If Cardinal signs are compulsive about winning, then Fixed signs? They’re flat-out obsessive about it, and Scorpio is certainly no exception. Strategy and skepticism are Scorpio’s fortes, practically emerging from the womb with a singularly focused gaze if not one eyebrow raised.
Co-ruled by Mars and Pluto, what makes Scorpio so skillful when it comes to any kind of game is that, like Aries, Scorpio is competitive in the extreme; yet Scorpio is masterful at the art of disguise, and rarely acts on impulse.
Instead, Scorpio devises complex strategies, carefully observing (if not digging up dirt on) their opponents as they plan their next moves with quiet determination.
Scorpio has a mixed bag of a year coming up in 2021, with Uranus in their Partnership Sector and Saturn in their Home & Family Sector.
With Saturn and Uranus at a tense angle to one another for almost all of 2021 (exact dates: February 17, June 14, and December 24), Scorpio will be challenged this year to set down roots and pay attention to their Personal Life, highlighting the need to recharge their emotional and physical batteries and to deal with any sudden changes or upheavals in their Committed Partnerships, both Business and Personal.
That said, when Jupiter, the planet of Luck and Abundance, moves into Pisces from May 13 – July 20 of this year, Scorpio (particularly those born in late October) stands to benefit tremendously. Jupiter, exalted in fellow Water Sign Pisces, heightens Scorpio’s already-sharp antennae, opening the door for plenty of opportunities down the line.
Like Water signs Cancer and Pisces, Scorpio benefits primarily from their heightened intuition, always able to sense when something’s ‘off’ with their highly-perceptive antennae. Scorpio has an uncanny ability to read the room (or in this case, the tables), sensing their next move yet self-possessed enough not to let impulse be their guide.
As one of the four Fixed Signs of the Zodiac, if Scorpio is going to invest the time and energy into any activity, it’s going to be for the long haul, devising complex strategies that make games where they can ‘fly solo’ ideal.
Fixed Water Sign Scorpio is one of the most ruthless competitors, entering any game with the attitude of ‘Playing to Win,’ highly adept at masking any disappointment and easily recouping their energies should they lose a hand or two.
Scorpio has a notable penchant for cultivating an Alter Ego of some kind, designed to befuddle, intimidate or scare off potential competitors, even though such aliases tend to make them more conspicuous than incognito.
Yet as much as Scorpio prefers to operate in secrecy, skillfully employing manipulation and subterfuge when necessary, Scorpio is well-aware of the value of having Friends in High Places in order to achieve real and lasting success, which is, of course, the only kind of success Scorpio is after.
Scorpio has a natural flair for the dramatic and, despite their (hidden) desire for Fame and Fortune, love to don a disguise or anything that makes them seem more mysterious, in hopes that whatever dramatics they get up to will throw off any potential competition. And usually? It works.
Case in point: Chris ‘Moneymaker,’ one of the highest-earning Poker champions. Chris is a classic Scorpio, wearing sunglasses and donning a last name based on his ancestors making silver and gold coins, embodied an alter ego that allowed him to so expertly defeat his opponents. Experts at concentration and focused attention, Poker is Fixed Water sign Scorpio’s game – hands down.
Scorpio has an interesting relationship with Fame, coveting the spotlight in their Career yet determined to remain as anonymous as possible when it comes to their often-secretive Personal Life.
Known as the ‘Lone Wolf’ of the Zodiac, Scorpio’s desire to reach the heights of Financial/Career Success can dominate their attention in life to the point where they become so ‘in the zone’ that they’re more likely than other types to find themselves middle-aged and alone. At which point, they’ll make a hasty switch, focusing all their attention on consolidating Assets and putting down Roots.
Scorpio, more than any other, needs a Soulmate, Significant Other, or some kind of Sounding Board – someone they trust to share their schemes with if only to provide them with a gentle reminder that they might want to consider the need for more balance when it comes to Career vs. Family Life.
In other words, if Scorpio doesn’t feel responsible for anyone but themselves, they’re more likely to go overboard than most. ‘Everything in moderation is the key to Scorpio’s long-term success – a lesson they usually learn the hard way, as Scorpio (at least in early life) is typically drawn to a lifestyle of Excess.
Bill Gates, arguably the most famous Billionaire on the Forbes List, is a perfect example of Scorpio’s latent ability to reinvent themselves.
Symbolized by the Phoenix rising up from the ashes, Scorpio is defined, in fact, by his (or her) resilience, relying on their intuition to let them know when it’s time to retreat or advance.
Bill Gates, too, is one of the many Billionaires who’ve stayed loyal to one spouse – not a coincidence, as Scorpio is loath to divorce once they’ve committed themselves to one Partner in Crime.
Scorpio, whatever their flaws, is wise enough to know that major life events like Divorce are taxing not only in a financial sense but in an emotional one, compromising their ability to focus and (re-) imagine ‘what’s next.’
Stability and consistency are crucial to Scorpio’s success; yet trust is no easy feat when it comes to Scorpio, demanding and suspicious (if not downright paranoid) as they can be re: Partnerships, whether business or personal.
Why? Scorpio is notoriously private as a rule, rarely allowing even their most trusted confidant to borrow their phone or (gasp) computer without looking over your shoulder.
