While the newly launched Hard Rock Casino Atlantic City did not open with a sportsbook for punters, it will soon be on their menu. Just before the official opening Hard Rock CEO Jim Allen spoke on the inevitable comparisons and competition between the Hard Rock and Ocean Resort Casino, who launched in Atlantic City on the same day:
“I think it’s the greatest thing, right? We love the idea that there are 1,400 rooms right next door to world-class quality. We wish them nothing but the best. … And don’t worry, we will be in the sports betting business.”
“… We understand the market is actually more favorable with handheld devices or smartphones if you will. So nobody has that technology approved yet by the DGE, we are in that process so we’ll be making some announcements in the next 30 or 60 days as far as how we are going to do that.”
While Hard Rock Online Casino have not yet made an official announcement on any partnerships for sports betting, it seems obvious that Gaming Innovation Group (GIG) would be their platform of choice given that Hard Rock is using them for their online casino software. Gaming Innovation Group (GIG) already has already received the transactional waiver from the DGE and claims to have “the most advanced and disruptive sports betting platform product of the last decade.”
With all of this, it is easy to see why Hard Rock is in it for the long run.
