New NJ Online Casinos

DraftKings Casino – Launched Dec. 18, 2018

DraftKings Casino went live in New Jersey back on December 18, 2018, and is still one of the newest gambling sites to launch in New Jersey. DraftKings was established by former VistaPrint employees, Jason Robins, Matthew Kalish, and Paul Liberman in 2012.

Almost instantly, the platform, which was then a Fantasy Football platform became a sensation throughout the United States. Therefore, when the ability for an online sportsbook came to their attention, the company naturally slid into that role. Not soon thereafter, DraftKings released its first casino app.

DraftKings is becoming a major player in the online casino world, especially in New Jersey where they offer one of the best welcome bonuses around to support its ever-growing list of casino games that include slots, table games, Live Dealer game, and of course, virtual sports betting.

Bet365 Casino – Launched Aug. 22, 2019

Bet365 joined the New Jersey casino market on August 22, 2019. However, while this UK-born online site might be new to the New Jersey online gaming scene, the company itself was founded in 2000, making it two decades old.

In 2000, the Bet365 company started in England as a chain of betting shops. In 2005, Bet365 sold its chain of shops and pursued more digital avenues, quickly becoming one of the biggest names in online gaming throughout Europe.

It wasn’t until 2018 that Bet365 decided to hop across the pond when they signed a deal with the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.

It only took Bet365 about a year to integrate and tweak their existing system for an American audience, which birthed the Bet365 and integrated sportsbook that is available today.

Bet365 is loaded up on casino games tables games and slots, including originals such as Maximum Vegas and Infinity Synth.

Newest NJ Online Casino

The newest online casino in New Jersey is Wynn Casino, which launched in August of 2021.

Wynn Casino – Launched August, 2021

Wynn Casino is the latest brand to launch an online casino in New Jersey.

Since former Wynn Resorts CEO Steve Wynn resigned in 2018, the company has decided to move forward with wanting to enter the online casino market.

Wynn is well-known for its beautiful property in Las Vegas, but the company has now decided to make the move online, launching in the Garden State in August of 2021.

They are expected to be major players in the market, offering sports betting to go along with online casino games.

Why Sign Up To A New Online Casino?

Despite it taking some time for an online casino to increase its casino game portfolio and offer everything you would expect from a gambling site, it is still usually a good time to join for a couple of reasons.

The most important being the welcome bonus. Due to the crowded field of operators, a new site must entice players who may already be loyal to another online casino. For this reason, most times a new casino will offer a strong welcome offer out of the gate, which will normally include free money in the form of an NJ no deposit bonus.

Another reason to join is to take advantage of the casino’s loyalty program. There may be a special promotion, especially early on, that can double or triple the points you can earn. This is great if you are looking to obtain extra perks.

Finally, another reason to sign up for a new NJ online casino is to take advantage of early promotions and new games. Just like with the welcome bonus, players should expect to see daily or weekly promotions, as well as the online casino pushing its newest and best games.

Online Casinos Arriving Soon

Stardust Online Casino is supposed to be the next big name to join the NJ online casino market at some point in 2021.

New Jersey’s Gambling History

New Jersey has always had gambling deeply embedded in its roots. The first act of making gambling illegal in New Jersey was in 1844 when the lottery was banned. However, New Jersians liked to bet, and therefore, in most areas, lotteries, and gambling in general continued. The laws were followed loosely; nothing like the strict regulations that are in place today.

In 1854 New Jersey’s first horse race track opened, which was followed throughout the century by the opening of many more horse racing tracks.

Although, it wasn’t until 1969 that the state lottery was established and following that, in 1976 there was an overwhelming vote in favor of legalizing gambling within Atlantic City. That is when New Jersey really started to sink its gaming roots deep into the earth of the Garden State.

Two years after the legalization of casinos in Atlantic City, Resorts Casino Hotel was the first to open along the boardwalk. This opening would start a gambling revolution that would put Atlantic City on the map as the eastern mecca for gambling. The west has Las Vegas and the East has Atlantic City. For decades, Atlantic City was a shining star but after the 2008 economic downturn, the light and allure of Atlantic City started to dim. By 2012, Atlantic City had a pulse but it was waning.

It was then that Atlantic City and the New Jersey government decided that gambling needed to find new life in the digital world. Thus, on November 23, 2013, the first online casinos launched in New Jersey.

Still, the law remained that no gambling could be conducted outside of Atlantic City. So, that meant that all the online servers needed to be physically located within Atlantic City. Now, the laws about Atlantic City being the only area where online sites could physically originate has relaxed some.

Every online gaming site needs to have a land-based casino. The gambling site does not need to be originally based in New Jersey, as even different countries can partner with land-based properties and offer their services. This has resulted in 22 online betting sites and counting, with a revenue of over $60,000,000 per month.

First Online Casinos That Launched

Online casinos in New Jersey officially launched on November 21, 2013. The seven casinos available at launch were:

  • Borgata Casino
  • Caesars Casino
  • Harrah’s Casino
  • 888 Casino
  • Tropicana Casino
  • Betfair Casino
  • Ultimate Casino

How Many Casinos Are In NJ?

There are nine physical properties, all of which are located in Atlantic City, and there are 23 current online casinos that you can access within NJ. Wynn Casino would be a new online casino and the first of its kind in the US and New Jersey, making it the 24th gambling site in the state.

The Future of New Jersey Online Casinos

It’s clear that the future of New Jersey online gambling is bright. More and more new NJ online casinos will be joining the market, and for good reason.

New Jersey online casino revenue for 2020 was $482,695,308 and there’s a good chance that number eclipses $500 million in 2021.

The success of the Garden State has spilled over into other states as we now see Michigan joining the online casino community in 2021. That now makes four states (Pennsylvania, West Virginia) that offer online casino gaming.

Innovation has been key for these online casinos. The game library is expanding beyond slots and table games, but also Live Dealer games, virtual sports betting, keno, bingo, and unique casino games such as War.

NJ online casinos are leaving no stone unturned as they are in a very competitive market.
