Here's Why We Like Them

With the New York State Gaming Commission expected to release regulations concerning sports betting soon, there has been a lot of preemptive work done by casinos in the Empire State to get things ready for their own sportsbooks. The big four commercial casinos have all got deals in place with major sports betting companies to help offer sportsbooks onsite to go along with the gaming features that are already there. Turning Stone has recently made a deal with Caesars and is ready to launch their very own Turning Stone Sportsbook in 2019.
As well as the four commercial casinos in New York there are also three operations owned by the Oneida Indian Nation. One of these, Turning Stone, was actually the first land based-casino opened in the state in 1993.
The Turning Stone Casino Resort is located in Verona, NY with the nearest large city being Syracuse about 30 miles away. The resort has evolved over the past 20 years to cover over 120,000 square feet of gaming space alone. There are also four hotels, two luxury spas, five golf courses and more than 20 dining and bar options.
The actual gaming area has around 80 tables, more than 2,000 slot and video poker machines, a live poker room with over 30 tables, a keno lounge and a high stakes bingo hall. And now they created “The Lounge with Caesars Sports”, which will highlight Turning Stone Sportsbook.
With years of experience, the Turning Stone Casino offers a good range of gaming options and will be looking to provide a sportsbook as soon as the regulations allow.
Currently, customers at the casino can play the following in the gaming area:
As well as the wide variety of slot and video poker machine Turning Stone Casino caters for all types of gaming fans and they also already have a free to play online service that can be accessed by computer or by downloadable app. With the new regulations they will also be ready to offer sports betting as part of the package.
As well as a VIP service covering all of Turning Stone Casino’s facilities they also have a TS Rewards Card.
Once customers have signed up for the scheme they can access exclusive benefits including monthly promotions and invitations to members only events and gaming tournaments. Every time the card is used at the casino points are added that can then be redeemed for merchandise, hotel accommodation and other Turning Stone Casino resort services.
Turning Stone Casino have already identified sports betting as an important part of their future plans and have said that there is no need for new state legislation as their existing agreement allows Nation casinos to add new games that are already offered elsewhere in New York. This means that when sports betting becomes a reality in the Empire State, Turning Stone Casino can just join in with the other casinos. The Oneida Indian Nation have said they will launch sports betting once the National Indian Gaming Commission finishes its review – and the New York State Gaming Commission releases its regulations.
As with other casinos in the state, Turning Stone have teamed up with a sports betting expert for their sportsbook operation – namely, Caesars Entertainment. As mentioned "The Lounge with Caesars Sports” will feature Turning Stone Sportsbook. Caesars is one of the country’s best-known gaming companies and this is a really big deal as far as sports betting in New York goes.
Caesars Entertainment already own around 50 casinos in the US and are already involved in sports betting in neighboring New Jersey.
With estimated yearly revenue of $4.85 billion, Caesars is a great company for Turning Stone to use for their sportsbook and it shows the intent of the casino to go with such a major player rather than taking sports bets themselves. With sports betting fully legalized it is sure to be a major attraction for casinos such as Turning Stone – especially when the big events are on.
Using sports betting specialists for these new sportsbooks seems to be the way all the casinos are going and it makes sense given the income potential they will bring.
Caesars Entertainment obviously has a lot of experience in the sports betting field and that will be brought to Turning Stone Sportsbook when the regulations allow. It means that in 2019 could see sportsbooks operating in a number of New York locations.
There could be a concentration on the big American sports – such as NFL and NBA – with the kind of knowledge that Caesars have, so markets covering both those leagues may feature heavily.
But sports betting operations elsewhere cover the entire world, so soccer markets – which are very popular in Europe – should be included. This may bring new kinds of bettors to not only Turning Stone Casino, but also sports betting in general in the US.
It does depend on exactly what the new regulations say but customers at the new Turning Stone Sportsbook should be able to make moneyline, parlays, points spread and totals bets on any sport.
Each event has the potential to have lots of different betting markets so if Turning Stone want to cover sports globally there is a really good chance of becoming the main place in the area for sports betting. Once the new regulations are put in place there are likely to be more organizations looking to get sportsbooks going so this kind of early preparation has been vital.
With live betting on sports so popular there will be even more markets for the casino’s customers to explore – covering a wide range of sports. With the financial muscle afforded by the deal with Caesars Entertainment, Turning Stone Casino could expect sports betting to give them a major boost.
The casinos in New York will now be eagerly awaiting the New York State Commission’s regulations allowing them to finally open their onsite sportsbooks. Since PASPA was overturned in May 2018 there has been a lot of work done by the casinos to be ready to go as soon as possible.
Once the sportsbooks are launched, which could be as early as May 2019,there will then be questions about online sports betting. Casinos like Turning Stone already have free to play online casino gaming so that would suggest that online sports betting, for real money, would be something that they would definitely want to be involved with.
Looking at the type of online operations that are currently so popular in Europe it would seem as though the New York public would be just as interested in being able to bet remotely, and that means that established sportsbooks such as the one proposed at Turning Stone Sportsbook would be in the best place to provide a digital betting experience also.
