In addition to the Colts, we’ve also taken a closer look at markets for several other teams and made NFL Draft betting predictions:

Colts NFL Draft Betting Tips

After trading the No. 13 overall pick in exchange for former Pro Bowl defensive tackle DeForest Buckner in March, Indianapolis is without a first-round draft pick this season.

With that said, the Colts do have two early second-rounders at No. 34 and No. 44 overall, which still allows GM Chris Ballard to build for the future through the early part of the draft.

As the draft approaches, Indianapolis’ largest team needs are on the offensive side of the ball following the trade. Once you consider all possibilities, which direction do Ballard and the Colts go with their first pick of this year’s draft?

Who Will Colts Draft In 2020?

Fans and bettors all over are gearing up for the 2020 NFL Draft and wondering ‘who will the Colts draft?’ when it comes time to announce their second-round pick at No. 34.

Before we get into which positions and players Indianapolis might be considering, we need to nail down which side of the ball this team is going to draft.

As mentioned, the trade for Buckner means the defensive line is less of an immediate need compared to several offensive positions. Wide receiver, tight end, and quarterback are all holes that need to be addressed, although the latter void is being filled by veteran Philip Rivers as a stop-gap option.

Unless a defensive guy is the best player available by a long way, put your money on the Colts going with offense first.

NFL Draft Betting Prediction: Colts Draft Offense With First Pick (-150)

Will The Colts Draft A Quarterback?

We can definitely expect the Colts will draft a quarterback it hopes will become a franchise signal-caller, but it is most likely not happening with the first selection at No. 34.

Many Colts mock draft results have the team taking a receiver first, which is why it makes sense that position has the lowest odds at BetMGM.

Once you get this deep in the draft, the strategy of many teams is to select who they deem to be the best plate on the board, oftentimes regardless of position. With that said, this could go one of two ways.

The Colts might be in a position to select one of the best remaining players on the board while still addressing an immediate need, which would be a wide receiver. At the same time, it could also select a quarterback at No. 34 knowing it has the No. 44 overall pick to address an area such as the receiving corps or tight end.

There are more questions than answers about how the board will look at this point but assuming Indianapolis holds onto this selection, it’s hard to see this team passing on one a much-needed receiving option in such a top-heavy draft.

Even with a trade back for extra picks, the one selection in the early part of the second still lends itself toward a receiver being taken. If wagering on a position, peg the Colts to select a wideout with its first pick and try to double your money with those +210 odds.

NFL Draft Betting Prediction: Colts Draft Wide Receiver (+210)

Who Will The Colts Pick In The 2020 Draft?

Predicting the exact player selected in the NFL Draft is extremely difficult once you get outside the early part of the first round, and even more so once you’re into the second round.

The goods news is that even though these wagers are very tough to win, every single option has juiced-up odds and a very high potential payout for getting the pick correct.

Indianapolis has options for trades but for the sake of this exercise, we are assuming that they’ll still make a selection at No. 34. We’ve established that wide receiver is the Colts’ biggest need and this draft happens to be full of NFL-ready wideouts, so it makes sense if Indy goes in this direction.

There are a plethora of prospects to choose from in this range and ultimately, the pick will be based on how the board shakes out. There are probably about 15 receivers that could go in the first three rounds and judging who is around early in the second is somewhat of a guessing game, so we’re limiting our options to a few players we expect to be there.

Indianapolis currently has T.Y. Hilton and Zach Pascal out wide, but there’s obviously room for a big-time slot threat or even another guy who can stretch the field. At this stage, available wideouts could include Justin Jefferson (LSU), Laviska Shenault Jr. (Colorado), Brandon Aiyuk (Arizona State), Jalen Reagor (TCU), and K.J. Hamler (Penn State) among others.

Both Shenault and Aiyuk should still be available in this spot. The former is big, strong, and physical, while the latter is more of a do-it-all threat with phenomenal hands and a problem in the slot. The Colts can’t go wrong in this spot, and the heavy odds mean you can take a stab at multiple options and still wind up with a decent profit.

NFL Draft Betting Prediction: Colts Select Laviska Shenault Jr. (+1000) or Brandon Aiyuk (+1100)
