Inter State Online Poker Review

Inter State Online Poker Review

May 2018 was abuzz with news about New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware joining a combined player pool on 888 Poker and NJ platforms; only to have the limelight stolen by the US Supreme Court ruling mid-month regarding PASPA.

The finding that PASPA violated the 10th amendment put online poker news on the backburner. NJ online casino news, as you most probably noticed, was frantic with the exciting development of the legalization of NJ sports betting, so let’s revisit the shared poker pools and interstate poker tournaments and see whether predictions have materialized as were widely predicted.

Previously, two separate online poker pools were seeing a daily average of 210 players over a 7 day week; whereas the combined player pools now, are indicating a daily average of 260 players. That’s a significant and predicted increase, proving the pundits right. The surprising thing is that the growth on WSOP.comNJ and 888 Poker has not come at a significant expense to PokerStars NJ or PartyPoker. There has been a slight decline in their numbers, but indications are that there are more new players in the market than previously.

Tournaments are also showing increased entries – not only the cash games. announced a Sunday tournament with $100 000 guaranteed and 100 more players signed up for the combined player pools than in the previous week of separate pools. That’s a significant and impressive increase from the word Go!

The best news for May is that PokerStars NJ hosted a tournament with the biggest number of entries. That was a cool 583 entries as compared to the Coast to Coast Classic Event which only managed 526. Quite a surprise! All in all, more tournament players is a good thing for all three online options.

So how does summer look for interstate online poker?

The long and the short of this is that it’s positive, but exact predictions and numbers are vague at this early stage.

The 2018 World Series of Poker is coming up with thousands of poker players from around the world expected to enter. will also be hosting four online bracelet events from June to August. This may well result in a reduction of cash and tournament players on Poker Stars NJ and PartyPoker – but that is yet to be seen.

The longer-term results of New Jersey having joined the Multi-State Internet Gaming Association remain a subject of speculation and only once the biggest poker tournaments are behind us, will we have a real sense of the gaming landscape under new combined pool conditions.
