NJ Online Casino Revenue Reports Reveal FanDuel Sportsbook Is On Top

From the time NJ sports betting became legal in the Summer of 2018, two companies were at the forefront of the market. FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook have been the clear leaders in the New Jersey sports betting online landscape from the jump, and it still remains that way nearly a year later.

If NJ online casino revenue reports from the early months of 2019 are any indication, however, the order in which they’re listed could be changing. As legal NJ sports betting online continues to boom, the FanDuel Sportsbook app is it making itself known as the industry leader in the first full year of legal NJ sports betting online.

NJ Sports Betting Revenue Figures For FanDuel & DraftKings

In order to break down sports betting revenue between the two major NJ sportsbooks, it’s important to know where you can find its product. The new Meadowlands Racetrack is powered almost exclusively by FanDuel Sportsbook, while Resorts Digital Gaming is powered by DraftKings Sportsbook. Based on brand awareness and marketing, we anticipate that the vast majority of New Jersey sports betting revenues are coming from FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook, respectively.

FanDuel Sportsbook App Surges Ahead of DraftKings Sportsbook Early In 2019

If current trends are to be trusted, FanDuel Sportsbook is now the premier operator for NJ online casinos offering sports betting.

In the few months of legal NJ online sports betting, it was clear that Resorts Digital Gaming and DraftKings Sportsbook were on top. They generated $30.43 million to close out 2018, nearly double the $15.25 million earned by Meadowlands and FanDuel Sportsbook.  As our chart from the New Jersey DGE shows, that’s no longer the case.

Revenue figures began to even out as the new year began, however, with the two racing neck in neck in January 2019 despite Digital Resorts’ DraftKings operation coming out on top by about $1 million. This past February marked the first month in which FanDuel took over the lead, as Meadowlands Racetrack earned $6.59 million compared to just $3.72 million from Resorts Digital Gaming.

Thanks to March Madness and the 2019 NCAA Tournament, the third month of the year was a huge one for both sides, but it was bigger for the FanDuel app. In March, FanDuel Sportsbook led the way for Meadowlands to earn an astonishing $13.32 million, which nearly matches its entire total from several months of 2018 NJ online sports betting. Meanwhile, Resorts Digital pulled in $7.28 million with the help of DraftKings Sportsbook.

When we look at year-to-date totals, we see Meadowlands with a sizeable lead so far. FanDuel has helped Meadowlands Racetrack generate $25.78 million in 2019 while DraftKings-led Resorts Digital Gaming is at $17.89 million.

By the time we reach a full year of legal NJ sports betting, the landscape of operating leaders looks like it’ll be a little different than it was when we started as FanDuel Sportsbook continues making a push with each passing month.
