We reported last month that Resorts Digital was able to maintain its hold on second place with Borgata not too far behind. Consider Borgata a bit further behind now after Resorts put together its most profitable month to date in September.
Six months since the last time they breached the $8-million mark in monthly revenue, Resorts was able to set a new record for revenue in September with $8,929,084. This is a massive jump for the NJ online casino from its August numbers when they were able to put up $7,447,488 after a few months below the $7-million level. On the backs of Resorts’ and Golden Nugget’s great revenue numbers for September, online casinos in New Jersey as a whole were able to set a record monthly revenue number.
Having Golden Nugget and Resorts Digital at the top two spots for NJ online casino revenue makes sense when both have four strong brands under its umbrella consistently powering them to the top of the heap. Resorts counts on known brand names to keep its status, and in the last month, it has shot its monthly revenue up by nearly $1.5 million.
Resorts was the first casino to open up in Atlantic City, so it’s a great sign that the strength of the brand name keeps Resorts Digital so high up on the revenue list. The more you see Resorts solidified in its place in the upper echelon of online casinos in New Jersey, the more they have to thank Resorts Online Casino for maintaining that status.
Unlike its constant competitor FanDuel Sportsbook, which has Betfair Online Casino as its wallet partner on the casino side, DraftKings has its own branded online casino to pair with the ever-popular DraftKings NJ Sportsbook. This no doubt has helped DraftKings Online Casino NJ gain its share of the online casino market.
Resorts Digital owes a lot to the Mohegan Sun brand, starting with a partnership deal in 2012 that helped pull them further into profitability. And Mohegan Sun has continued to stake its claim as an important brand to Resorts with great revenue numbers month-after-month.
One thing Resorts Digital has that Golden Nugget doesn’t is a separate NJ online poker brand like PokerStars to generate poker revenue for them. It’s consistently added $500k to $600k to its bottom line as Resorts extends its lead over third-place Borgata.
We reported positively last month about Resorts jumping back over the $7-million level after a few months under it during the summer. Resorts had the biggest jump in monthly revenue from August to September, helping NJ online casino revenue as a whole to reach a new high.
Resorts themselves are able to claim a new monthly record as well. Before September, its highest revenue mark was back in March 2019 with $8.47 million set as its record. In September, a new record was set with $8,929,084 in total revenue; a jump of $1,481,596 over August’s numbers according to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.
Before September, it was looking more and more like third-place Borgata was about to catch up to Resorts Digital in revenue, as they had gotten as close as $313,149 just last month. Now, the gap between second and third place has been extended to $1,969,831. Check out the revenue numbers so far in 2019.

Nine months into 2019, Resorts Digital has easily surpassed the 2018 totals with a YTD total of $66,824,035 (after adjustments). That thoroughly defeats the 2018 tally of $45,307,723; a monthly average of $3.78 million last year. This year the current monthly average is $7.42 million, which is nearly double last year’s pace. Even Golden Nugget can’t lay claim to doubling its previous year’s total, which is a great sign for Resorts Digital’s continued success.
