2019 NBA Draft | Knicks Land R.J. Barrett According To DraftKings Odds

Nearly everyone who follows the NBA is aware that it has become a year-round league. As the NBA Finals and the season as a whole are nearing a close, the 2019 NBA Draft and the soap opera that is the free-agency period are both fast-approaching for basketball fans and NJ sports betting players and operators like DraftKings Sportsbook alike.

This offseason is a make-or-break one for a few teams, but perhaps none more than the New York Knicks. One of the burning questions of the upcoming 2019 NBA Draft is, who winds up playing at Madison Square Garden? As things currently stand, New York has the No. 3 overall pick and the salary cap space to add multiple max contracts. This means that on June 20 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, they have the opportunity to start establishing itself as a force to be reckoned with once again. But who will they take?

Before we take a look at odds for the top three picks, here is the 2019 NBA Draft order for the entire first round:

  1. New Orleans
  2. Memphis
  3. New York
  4. Los Angeles Lakers
  5. Cleveland
  6. Phoenix
  7. Chicago
  8. Atlanta
  9. Washington
  10. Atlanta
  11. Minnesota
  12. Charlotte
  13. Miami
  14. Boston
  15. Detroit
  16. Orlando
  17. Brooklyn
  18. Indiana
  19. San Antonio
  20. Boston
  21. Oklahoma City
  22. Boston
  23. Utah
  24. Philadelphia
  25. Portland
  26. Cleveland
  27. Brooklyn
  28. Golden State
  29. San Antonio
  30. Milwaukee

NJ Sports Betting Odds on DraftKings App For Top Three Picks In NBA Draft

The DraftKings Sportsbook app provides a wide range of markets for NJ online sports betting players on pro basketball, including 2019 NBA Draft odds. Lines are available for which player will get selected first, second and third overall, with one player heavily favored in each position.

No. 1 Pick - New Orleans Pelicans

Once  New Orleans surprisingly won the lottery, Pelicans jerseys with Duke star Zion Williamson’s name were being printed. Williamson dominated NCAA basketball, winning the Naismith Men’s College Player of the Year award while electrifying fans all over the nation. At -10000 on DraftKings Sportsbook, it’s all but certain Zion goes No. 1 to the Big Easy and provides little value to NJ sports betting players.

No. 2 Pick - Memphis Grizzlies

Immediately following the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery results, oddsmakers at DraftKings were unsure whether Memphis would select Murray State guard Ja Morant (-125) or Duke guard R.J. Barrett (+110). Several weeks later, odds would tell us its virtually a lock that the high-flying Morant winds up in Memphis (or whoever picks No. 2 if the pick is traded). Morant is now (-5000) to go No. 2, while Barrett has the next-lowest odds at +1200.

No. 3 Pick - New York Knicks

The Knicks are in an interesting position. It appears the draft has three top prospects, with the rest of the field a notch below, and New York has a crack at one of them if they want it. They could use the pick in a potential trade for a star like Anthony Davis, or to move back in the first round for multiple picks. The Knicks’ long-term opinion of Barrett along with the rest of the talent in the draft’s top talent will go a long way toward deciding whether one asset at No. 3 beats multiple assets later in the draft. The lack of  certainty also makes it difficult for New Jersey sports betting players to decide whether a bet on the Knicks’ pick is worthwhile.

Whether New York keeps the pick or not, the expectation remains that Barrett goes No. 3 overall. His odds are -2000 to go third, while the next closest players are at +1000 (UVA’s De’Andre Hunter and Duke’s Cam Reddish). Barrett is slated to meet with New York leading up to the draft, so only time will tell where the Knicks go in the draft to aid their rebuild.

NJ Sports Betting Odds: NY Knicks Markets On DraftKings Sportsbook App

In addition to the draft, there’s an incredible amount of interest in how the Knicks will do in free agency. With their sights set on Kevin Durant along with potential interest in other stars like Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker among others, New York has a chance of going from dead-last in the NBA to a superteam if all goes well.

On top of offering odds regarding the Knicks’ No. 3 overall selection in the 2019 NBA Draft, DraftKings Sportsbook also has markets specific to how New York will finish the 2019-20 season, some of which are contingent on potential free-agent signings.

Knicks Special DraftKings Sportsbook Markets

  • Knicks Win Eastern Conference: +450
  • Knicks Win NBA Championship: +1800

Special Knicks Free Agency Markets Before NBA Draft

  • Knicks Win NBA Championship (must have Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving for bet to have action): +350
  • Knicks Win NBA Championship (must have Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving for bet to have action): +800

As these markets on DraftKings Sportsbook tell us, the Knicks have the chance to go from the bottom of the league to among the NJ sports betting favorites to win the conference or even the championship, depending how things play out over the next few weeks. No matter how things shake out,the Knicks area  team to watch as the NBA Draft and free agency get closer
