The third major on the PGA Tour schedule is here as the NJ sports betting community readies itself for the 2019 U.S. Open Championship. The tournament will take place from June 13-16 at one of the most legendary and scenic PGA Tour event venues there is in Pebble Beach Golf Links, located in southern California.
As beautiful as it is challenging, Pebble Beach features high winds, narrow fairways and extended rough that eats golf balls professionally. It won’t be an easy week for golfers, and it’ll also be difficult figuring out wagers at places like DraftKings Sportsbook. One of the toughest things for a NJ sports betting player to do is making golf betting picks prior to a major. With so many players in the field and even in the upper tier of the PGA Tour roster, it really is difficult, especially when it’s an event with so much hype like the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. Here are a few things to keep in mind when selecting your golfer(s) ahead of PGA Tour events:
- The Course Matters
- Check The Stats
- Look At Recent Results
- Experience Is Important

PGA Tour 2019: Koepka Seeks Third Straight Title At US Open
At this point in time, there is no golfer better when the lights are brightest than Brooks Koepka. The 29-year old has won four of the last eight majors he’s played in, including the last two U.S. Open championships. Due to some changes in the PGA Tour schedule, Koepka has actually won two PGA Championship titles since his most recent U.S. Open victory in 2018 after he ran away from the field at Bethpage a few weeks ago. Here at BonusSeeker, we were on Koepka to win the PGA, and given his current form, it comes as no surprise he’s among the favorites to win at Pebble Beach.
Below is a look at all the favorites going into the 2019 U.S. Open, according to DraftKings Sportsbook:
Dustin Johnson comes in as the NJ sports betting favorite at +700 on DraftKings Sportsbook, with Rory McIlroy (+850) and Koepka (+950) not far behind. Tiger Woods and Patrick Cantlay round out the top five, but who do we see doing damage and finishing atop the PGA Tour leaderboard at this year’s U.S. Open at Pebble Beach?
Golf Betting Predictions: 2019 US Open Picks Using DraftKings Sportsbook Odds
The time has come to make some golf betting predictions of our own using U.S. Open odds from DraftKings Sportsbook. On top of making selections strictly on golfers to win the event, we’ve found some more specific markets heading into the week at Pebble Beach.
2019 US Open Pick To Win
- Rory McIlroy (+850)
McIlroy is having a statistical year to remember and is as in-form as any golfer on the tour, he just needs to end the major-title drought to put an exclamation point on it. McIlroy leads the PGA Tour by a wide margin in strokes gained tee-to-green, which could be a valuable indicator of what’s to come this week. He’s got 10 finishes in the top 10 out of 13 starts, including an eight-place finish at Bethpage a couple of weeks back. McIlroy dominated last weekend at the RBC Canadian Open with a 9-under 61 on Sunday to win by seven strokes, and his game is seemingly suited for any type of course.
Although Rory crushes it off the tee, distance won’t be the major key at Pebble like it is most weeks on the tour. This week will be more about accuracy and approach, but McIlroy can play that game as well. Many players will be able to club down from a driver, putting them in position to hit wedges and short irons into very small greens. McIlroy is top-10 in reaching greens in regulation and top-five approaching from 125 to 150 yards, a range we are sure to see plenty of shots from this week. Even though he’s missed three cuts in a row at this event, give us Rory McIlroy as the NJ sports betting pick to win his second U.S. Open Championship.
PGA Tournament Predictions: Finishing Position
- Dustin Johnson Finishes Top 5 (+164) and Leads After Round One (+1600)
Not too many players have the kind of success at Pebble Beach that Johnson has, which is why he’s the favorite at +700 on the DraftKings Sportsbook app. He won the Pebble Beach Pro-Am twice in a row (2009, 2010) and finished in the top five on five other occasions. He’s also finished runner-up in both majors this season, and we think he gets off to a hot start at his year’s U.S. Open. The best value we can find on Johnson is for him to begin fast and lead after the first round at a course he loves playing.
- Brooks Koepka Finishes Top 10 (+120)
Not wagering on Koepka in some way isn’t an option for us. He’s a machine at majors with the skills and demeanor to win at any course at any time. In addition to taking Koepka to win the PGA Championship (+1100), we also had him top-five (+290), which was a lock after Thursday. He can’t win every major, and the distance he displays week-in and week-ou on tour could be negated at Pebble Beach. Still, we’ll take the plus-money for s top-10 finish from the best golfer on tour the last two seasons.
Additional U.S. Open 2019 Predictions
- Rory McIlroy Wins/DustinJohnson 2nd (+5500)
- Henrik Stenson Finishes Top 10 (+400)
- Kevin Na Finishes Top 20 (+333)
- Luke List Finishes Top 40 (+225)
- Jim Furyk Finishes Top 30 (+200)
- Brandt Snedeker Finishes Top 20 (+150)
- Francesco Molinari Finishes Top 20 (+150)
- Tommy Fleetwood Finishes Top 20 (+140)
- Tony Finau Finishes Top 30 (+100)
- Hideki Matsuyama Finishes Top 30 (-152)
- Tiger Woods Finishes Top 20 (-177)
