For the second week in a row, the PGA Tour is in Dublin, Ohio and we’re back with 2020 Memorial Tournament betting picks!

Over the past month or so since the PGA Tour has returned, pro golf has been incredibly popular to bet on at online sportsbooks in New Jersey and several other states where gambling is legal.

With Tiger Woods making his first start since the return of golf, sites are likely to see even more betting action. But is the five-time winner of this event going to be in line to win it? Let’s get into what to expect from Muirfield Village and our 2020 Memorial predictions!

2020 Memorial Tournament Betting Tips – Golf Betting Strategy

Before making any 2020 Memorial Tournament predictions, the first step is taking a hard look at Muirfield Village, which was designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus.

At Jack’s Place, Par is 72 and it plays just under 7,400 yards, although it won’t look the way it did on TV for the last event. Following the Workday Charity Open, Muirfield Village Golf Club is undergoing some changes in order to accommodate another field of PGA Tour players for a second straight week.

The course should appear as it normally does for the Memorial. That means high rough along the fairways and fast greens. It also means different tee boxes after last week’s tournament utilized some alternate locations to protect the course for this week’s event.

All that said, we are making our selections partly based on many of the same stats that are always important for making Memorial Tournament picks every year:

  • Strokes Gained: Off The Tee
  • Greens In Regulation Percentage
  • SG: Approach
  • Par 5 Birdie Or Better
  • SG: Putting

2020 Memorial Tournament Predictions – Golf Betting Picks

the Memorial 2020 OddsMake 2020 Memorial Picks At BetMGM!

It’s very rare to see tournaments played on the same track two weeks in a row. But since that’s the situation we have here, the type of golfer doesn’t change all that much.

Getting off the tee and onto greens in regulation is going to be huge at Muirfield, where the high rough can make reaching the putting surface difficult. Once you’re on it, putting on the fast greens will be another enormous factor.

Long story short, we are focusing on accurate hitters, strong approach players, and good putters along with players who excel on approach and will hit many more greens than they’ll miss.

Taking advantage of Par 5 holes will be a major factor, as will iron play on approach and off the tee since many golfers club down to avoid the rough at Muirfield.

Once you’re signed up, consider the following 2020 Memorial Tournament picks:

  • Patrick Cantlay To Win (+1600)

Cantlay was one of our picks for the first event at Muirfield, and there’s no sense in going away from him. After three fairly decent rounds at the Workday, Cantlay went nuclear with a -7 round on Sunday to secure a top 10 heading into the Memorial. If there’s such a thing as momentum, Cantlaty has it, going into an event he’s won recently.

The champion of the 2019 Memorial Tournament Is a top 10 player in both Strokes Gained: Approach and ranks third in Par 5 Birdie Or Better Percentage, two stats we are taking seriously this week. In last year’s event, he ranked in the top five in both.

This past week, Cantlay’s tee-to-green game was unbelievable as were his approaches. He’ll have to drive the ball into the fairway more often this time around but he’s also putting well enough to be considered as one of your 2020 Memorial Tournament betting picks.

  • Jon Rahm To Win (+2200)

Most of the selections you see this week will feature players who have a strong history at the Memorial Tournament. Jon Rahm is not one of those players, but he still could be set up for a massive second week at Muirfield after a blazing hot finish to the Workday Open.

Rahm shot six of eight rounds in the 60s in his first two events since the restart but was a measly one shot over par after three rounds last week. That was until Sunday, where Rahm’s round of 8-under par (64) led the field and catapulted him into the top 30 of an event many forgot he was even entered in.

He’s one of the very best putters off-the-tee players on tour and also hits greens in regulation as well as nearly anyone, which makes him a statistical fit for this event, even if past results don’t bear that out. Don’t forget about the Spaniard when making your 2020 Memorial Tournament picks.

Memorial Tournament 2020 Picks – Finishing Position Golf Betting

the Memorial OddsMake Memorial Tournament Picks At DK!

If you’re looking to win money betting on golf outside of selecting who will win a given tournament, you need to check out wagering on finishing positions.

This is a great way to maintain a rooting interest throughout the entire tournament and still give yourself a chance at ending the weekend with some profits, even if lines are much more modest.

Think about some of the following golfers if making Memorial golf predictions on finishing position, using odds from DraftKings as our guide:

  • Bryson DeChambeau Top 10 (+163)

DeChambeau took a week off after winning the Rocket Mortgage Classic, and he’s one of the heavy favorites despite skipping the first event at Muirfield Village.

He’s finished top 10 in all four events played since the return of the PGA Tour and is the winner of the 2018 Memorial Tournament, so there’s a lot to like about making some sort of bet on him.

DeChambeau checks all the boxes, not just the ones that involve smashing the ball off the tee. Whether it’s putting, Par 5 scoring, or just about anything else, Bryson is dialed in. This isn’t a guy you can easily scroll past without considering a wager, even if the odds aren’t as profitable with him compared to other options.

  • Xander Schauffele Top 20 (+125)

Schauffele is another player whose recent form makes him someone we can’t overlook heading into the second week at Muirfield Village. In three of his first four events since the restart, Schuffele notched two top-20 finishes and he can do it again after ranking top 15 in the field on approach and putting at the Workday Open.

He placed 15th at this event last year and went T-14th at the Workday, which could give him some confidence at Jack’s Place. In general, Schauffele is excellent both off the tee and greens in regulation, ranking ninth in the former and fourth in the latter following the most recent tournament.

  • Rickie Fowler Top 30 (-110)

For a while, many rightfully wondered when we’d see Fowler regain his old form, but it could be happening, and there continues to be value on his finishing position markets. After notching a top-20 finish as one of our Rocket Mortgage Classic picks, Fowler’s early performance at the Workday Charity Open was encouraging and he finished T-22nd.

It doesn’t hurt that he’s got three top-15 finishes at Muirfield Village in the last three years, so think about Fowler as one of your 2020 Memorial Tournament predictions if you’re looking for a top-30 finisher at basically even money.

  • Justin Rose Top 40 (-120)

Rose was one of our picks to win the tournament last week and it’s very safe to stay that it blew up in our faces, and we aren’t the only ones. Because of that brutal +10 score over the first two days and the improved field this week, Rose’s odds are being overlooked for the Memorial, a tournament he still has ana amazing history at.

After locking in rose at -120 for the top 30 last week, we’re paying the same price for the top 40 and still feeling confident despite the Workday event. In 13 different versions of this event since 2004, Rose as made 10 cuts, nine top-20 finishes, seven top-10 finishes, and a victory. Most recently, Rose has gone in the top 15 in this event five of the last six times he’s played it.

Last week was unspeakably bad and Rose hasn’t played great golf in a few weeks, but we doubt he repeats that performance, especially at a venue in which he’s had such success.

2020 Memorial Tournament Picks: Should I Bet On Tiger Woods This Week?

For the first time since the return of the PGA Tour, Tiger Woods is playing in an event. The five-time Memorial Tournament champion is joining a loaded field and igniting even more interest in pro golf betting. Online sportsbooks are offering Tiger-specific markets related to his finishing position and props related to his performance in round one and the entire tournament.

While we can’t be sure how Tiger will perform in his first event back, we would recommend keeping an eye out for any promotions that may provide value on the Big Cat, such as sites offering odds boosts for bettors who wager on the 15-time major champion in his return to the tour.

On DraftKings, Tiger making the cut was boosted from -278 to +125 and on FanDuel the same market was boosted from -450 to +100, giving bettors a great chance to cash in on Woods’ return. We’d recommend creating an account with either or both sites if you don’t have one already to take advantage of these great promotions.
