Fans and bettors all over the United States have been starved for sporting events and we’re celebrating a brief return to normalcy by making some NFL Draft betting predictions!

The draft is no longer the Las Vegas spectacle that the league originally wanted but it will still take place as planned from April 23-25 in an all-virtual format. The event kicking off as intended is welcome news for fans who haven’t been able to wager for over a month and for gambling sites as well, which have come up with a nearly innumerable amount of markets for the public to choose from.

With states such as New Jersey sure to see tons of action on sports betting apps, it only makes sense to preview what the local teams might do. Now, we shift our attention to the New York Jets.

Best Sportsbooks For Jets NFL Draft Betting Predictions

We have been preparing for the event from a gambling perspective and scouring NJ betting sites for team-specific markets including which side of the ball a team will select, which position the first selection will be, and of course, who the exact prospect will be.

If you’re interested in searching for potential wagers by team, consider the following sites:

Along with our Jets draft projections, we also took the time to dive into markets surrounding several teams located in or near states with legal sports betting, including the following:

Jets NFL Draft Betting Tips

The New York Jets are drafting at No. 11 in the first round and when it comes to team needs, the biggest holes that GM Joe Douglas needs to fill are quite obvious, though it’s not as if nailing down this pick is an easy thing.

The three positions Gang Green focused on in pre-draft meetings are offensive line, wide receiver, and cornerback, with several players at each position who could arguably be in the mix at this point in the first round.

The Jets can go in a variety of directions depending on how this shapes up, including a trade back to acquire extra picks and fill even more holes. But assuming the Jets stay put at No. 11 (or don’t move back very far in the first round), what are we willing to put our money on when it comes to Jets NFL Draft betting predictions?

Who Will Jets Draft In 2020?

Fans and bettors all over the tri-state area are gearing up for the 2020 NFL Draft and wondering ‘who will the Jets draft?’ when it comes time to announce the No. 11 overall pick.

One thing we can say with relative certainty is that New York is going to look at offense first with its two biggest needs being on the line and at receiver. Oddsmakers are in agreement as the odds have skyrocketed in that direction and the offensive side of the ball being a steep -400.

All of the value here is on defense, so go that direction with you wagers if you’re hunting for a large payout. Otherwise, avoid this wager because it just feels unlikely the Jets go defense unless all four of the top tackles are gone and they can’t trade back for whatever reason.

Jets Projected Draft Picks 2020 – Wide Receiver Or Lineman?

Now that we’ve narrowed down the Jets’ likely selection to the offense, which position should we bet on Gang Green deciding on?

Going back to those team needs, most Jets mock draft results have resulted in the team selecting either a wide receiver or an offensive lineman. The oddsmakers have the same line of thinking, with those two being the most likely options in terms of odds.

New York had the 28th ranked offensive line in 2019 according to Pro Football Focus and even with several additions along the line during free agency, Gang Green still needs help at tackle and protecting Darnold is paramount at this point. And so is the need to create more running lanes for RB Le’Veon Bell.

On the other hand, Jets fans won’t throw their televisions through the window if the team drafts one of the stud receivers on the board, either, since the team is still bereft of weapons. Even if Darnold has more time, there aren’t many go-to options in this receiving corps.

So what comes first, the chicken or the egg?

Considering this is an extremely deep receiver pool and high-level talent can still be had in later rounds (the Jets own a second and two third-round picks), our money is on a lineman going at No. 11 for Gang Green. If Darnold has no time, nothing else matters.

Who Will The Jets Pick In The 2020 Draft?

This is where things get fun. Even though the Jets select in the top half of the first round, most of the betting options offered have pretty high odds, which suggests there are plenty of possibilities that could come to light.

Each of the top seven options is either an offensive lineman or a wide receiver, which tells you all you need to know about where the Jets are looking. It’s a little bit easier to project that at least one or two of the top three wideouts will be on the board at no. 11, which is why Jeudy and Lamb are at the top.

We established our prediction that the Jets take an offensive lineman but since wide receiver remains an option, we’ll tell you that Jerry Jeudy (+400) if the pick if going in that direction. DraftKings also offers much higher odds for both Jeudy and Lamb compared to some other sites.

With several other teams in front of the Jets looking at tackles, it becomes much more difficult to project exactly which ones will be available by the time things get to New York. The truth is, it’s a guessing game to nail this pick exactly, which is why the payouts are so big.

For that reason, we are just going with a guy who is available in about half of mock drafts and has the measurables to slot in at left tackle to protect Darnold’s blindside. Hope that Alabama’s Jedrick Wills is there, and then hope Douglas doesn’t pass on him.
