Picks by Brian Sausa:
Clemson Looks To Spoil Notre Dame’s Undefeated Streak
Cotton Bowl: No. 2 Clemson (-13) vs. No. 3 Notre Dame
BetStars Sportsbook has seen Clemson climb to a 13-point favorite against undefeated Notre Dame in the first College Football Playoff semifinal.
The Tigers are regarded a very close second behind Alabama, boasting a loaded roaster on both sides of the ball. Clemson, like Alabama, ranks in the top five in scoring offense (45.4 points per game) and scoring defense (14.7 points allowed). The Irish boast a top-10 scoring defense (17.3 points allowed per game) and will have their work cut out for them stopping Clemson star RB Travis Etienne, who scored 21 touchdowns in 2018. Clemson’s dynamic, suffocating defense entered bowl season with the second-most sacks in the country (46) and are sure to make things tough on the Irish offense, led by Ian Book. Notre Dame brings a 12-0 record into bowl season for the first time since 2013, where it made the national championship.
Clemson is stronger on both sides of the ball and that’s why it’s likely they win this game. However, NJ sports betting players should remember the Irish are still a complete team in their own right and one that isn’t going to be blown out. With tough defense, some creative offense and clock management, Notre Dame keeps this close.
Pick: Notre Dame (+13)
Alabama Looks To Roll In The Orange Bowl
Orange Bowl: No. 1 Alabama (-14) vs. No. 4 Oklahoma
BetStars Sportsbook has Oklahoma as 14-point underdogs against Alabama. This game pits the strength the Sooners’ offense against Alabama’s top-flight defense. Oklahoma brings into the College Football Playoff the nation’s top offense, averaging more yards (578) and points (49.5) per game than anyone. Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray quarterbacks an electric unit that can and will put up points on anyone, including the Crimson Tide. Still, Alabama's defense has suffocated opponents all season, shutting out No. 11 LSU and No. 18 Mississippi State in the process. They're sure to get a few stops, even on Oklahoma. And whether Heisman finalist Tua Tagovailoa is fully healed from knee surgery or not, backup and veteran Jalen Hurts proved he can step in and lead the offense as he did in Alabama's comeback victory in the SEC championship.
Undefeated Alabama is the only team to reach the CFP in all five season of its existence. This season, they won every regular season game by at least 22 points before the SEC championship. Alabama wears down Oklahoma and wins by two touchdowns or more, reaching the national championship for a fourth straight season and cashing a win for NJ sports betting players.
Pick: Alabama (-14)
Winners To Face Off In National Championship Game
The winners of the Cotton Bowl and Orange Bowl will face each other in the National Championship Game. The matchup will occur on January 7 to declare the college football national champion.
