The regular season is over and there’s no better way to celebrate the postseason than with NFL playoff predictions, which start with the Bills visiting the Texans to kick off the opening round!
As always, the NFL playoff schedule begins with Wild Card weekend, which consists of two games on both Saturday and Sunday as eight of the 12 eligible teams battle for a spot in the divisional round!

The AFC South-champion Houston Texans (10-6) enter the Wild Card round as the No. 4 seed and sight home favorites over the fifth-seeded Buffalo Bills (10-6). The line opened at many NJ betting sites at Houston -3.5 but has found its way down to -3 at most places including Sugarhouse with total is currently set at 42 points.

When it comes to covering the number, Buffalo has been one of the league’s best while Houston is one of the worst. The distance between them widens once you break it down between home and road splits, as the Texans were 2-6 against the spread (ATS) while the Bills were 6-0-2 on the road.
The Texans’ offense featuring Deshaun Watson and DeAndre Hopkins has the chance to be electric, but they’ll have to contend with one of the premier defensive units in football, as the Bills rank fifth in defensive DVOA and third in pass defense according to Football Outsiders.
Houston struggles to protect their star quarterback with the third-worst adjusted sack rate of any playoff team but has managed to produce enough offense as a group to win the AFC South and earn the home postseason game. Will it be enough to cover against Buffalo?
The Texans are talented and they are fun, a hell of a lot more fun than the Bills. When the running game and Watson get going at the same time, Houston looks impossible to stop. The problem is, however, on far too many occasions this team hasn’t played quite up to its potential and too many things point toward Buffalo covering this spread to ignore.
Frankly, we’re worried about Houston winning this game at all, let alone covering the number. Whether it’s an inability to protect Watson, failing to stop opposing offenses or some combination of both, the Texans rarely put it all together for 60 minutes. Even with the return of injured difference-makers like DE J.J. Watt and OL Laremy Tunsil, others like CBs Bradley Roby and Johnathan Joseph along with deep-threat WR Will Fuller V are still questionable to play.
This isn’t all about Houston, though. A low-scoring road game is exactly the type of situation Buffalo is comfortable in. This team is undefeated against the spread away from home this season, and Houston isn’t exactly an environment that’s scaring us into automatically taking the home team.
The Bills have gone on the road and performed so we expect them to keep this close as well, if not win the game outright (for their first playoff win since 1995). The Bills utilize the ground game and play defense, so they’re the first of our 2020 NFL Wild Card picks.
Because there are so many fewer games on the schedule, betting on props becomes increasingly popular during the postseason. Most online betting sites have dozens of markets with hundreds of betting options for every game, ensuring there’s a bet type for almost everyone.
With well over a hundred types of additional wagers, the SugarHouse Sportsbook app gives us plenty to work with for making alternative NFL playoff predictions. Here are some of our favorite prop bets for when the Bills and Texans kick things off to begin Wild Card weekend:

We all thought we had a pretty good idea as to how the 2020 NFL playoff bracket would look, but the Week 17 schedule still didn’t disappoint, and we even wound up with a couple of surprises that change how things look going into Wild Card weekend.
The AFC playoff bracket has been completely flipped on its head following the Patriots’ stunning loss to the Dolphins. Since Kansas city held on to win its final game, the Chiefs stole the No. 2 seed in the conference and a first-round by New England, which now plays during the Wild Card round for the first time since 2010.
Below are the seedings and playoff matchups for the opening round of the postseason:
*First Round Bye
Wild Card Round: Bills vs. Texans, Titans vs. Patriots
Divisional Round: Bills-Texans Winner vs. Ravens or Chiefs, Titans-Patriots winner vs. Chiefs or Ravens
*First Round Bye
Wild Card Round: Vikings vs. Saints, Seahawks vs. Eagles
Divisional Round: Seahawks-Eagles winner vs. 49ers or Packers, Vikings-Saints winner vs. Packers or 49ers
