NJ sports betting players are about to receive a venue upgrade, as the temporary Borgata Sportsbook in Atlantic City will soon have a permanent NJ sportsbook in the Borgata Casino. The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa put out a press release confirming that MGM International, its parent company, will be investing over $11 million to develop the Borgata Sportsbook property in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
It is said the new New Jersey sportsbook will feature both a bar and a wagering area, and should launch this summer during prime months on the Jersey Shore.
Borgata Sportsbook To Replace Temporary Venue
Borgata’s solution to NJ sports betting these past few months has been the Borgata Race & Sports Book, which has been repurposed to accept sports wagers in addition to being a racebook previously.
The new venue is scheduled to include 10 betting windows, a large seating area with 100 seats and just as many flat-screen monitors, a large video wall and a fully-stocked bar. Expectations of the Borgata Sportsbook are understandably high given the impressive $11 million investment into the project.
Borgata Casino Advancing The Brand With NJ Sports Betting
The Borgata Sportsbook is simply an advancement of the brand and product built up by the casino both in Atlantic City and online. Borgata Online Casino closed out 2018 by setting personal record in revenue and joining elite company in the process. In December, Borgata joined Golden Nugget as the only online casinos to surpass the $5 million mark in a single month.
Borgata has been involved with legal sports betting in New Jersey since the beginning and became the first venue to accept a sports wager in Atlantic City. It was a historic moment when NBA Hall-of-Famer Julius Erving had the honors on June 14, 2018.
Marcus Glover, Borgata’s president, noted that the company has been dedicated to expanding its influence and property from the start since the time it arrived on the Jersey Shore over a decade ago. This is reflected in Borgata’s ambition and involvement in the growth of NJ sports betting over the first six months of its existence.
MGM + NJ Sports Betting Is Here To Stay
Alongside a combined handle of $1 billion for all its sportsbook locations, MGM also made a huge impression on the North American sports landscape after joining strategic partnerships with the NBA, WNBA, NHL, MLB and the NFL’s New York Jets. With an $11 million sportsbook under construction, it’s easy to envision the relationship between MGM and NJ sports betting improving even more.
