Caesars Partners With The NFL: Is A Sports Betting Deal Next?

After months of what-ifs, the National Football League has finally claimed an official casino partner, and it’s Caesars Casino. The NFL was the last major sports league to partner up with a gaming operator and it is the only sport that hasn’t gotten itself involved in NJ sports betting. But with this new deal, there is the possibility of that changing in the near future.

Although the league signed a multiyear deal with Caesars Casino, it prohibits Caesars from using its logo to promote its Caesar Sportsbook and only allows the NFL brand to be used in connection to Caesars Online Casino and casino properties. It appears sports betting is still a gray area for the NFL. But Caesars Casino will be paying nearly $30 million annually for the privilege, which indicates there might be room for this partnership to expand in the future.

NFL Has Yet To Hop On NJ Sports Betting Train

Renie Anderson, the NFL’s vice president of sponsorship, said the league is trying to avoid diving into an industry that, although legalized, still has a lot of progress to make. Other sports leagues don’t seem to share this point of view and have already claimed their piece of the pie. The industry and NJ sports betting especially seem to only be picking up the pace each month. According to the American Gaming Association, the NFL is the league that stands to profit the most from a potential involvement in the sports betting industry, with estimated numbers reaching up to $2.3 billion a year.

Caesars Casino And The NFL Continue To Grow

The National Football League might stand to profit from an official sports betting partner, but it sure is doing just fine without one. The league’s sponsorship revenue has grown by 4.4% during the 2016-2017 period, to an overwhelming estimate of $1.25 billion. Commissioner Roger Goodell has shared plans of even further expansion and hopes to turn the $14 billion total revenue into $25 billion in the next 8 years. Now that it’s an official partner, Caesars Casino will be a major part of that expansion. NFL events will become a part of Caesars’ famous rewards system. Caesars Casino is also an official partner of the Raiders’ brand new stadium in Las Vegas.

These activities are only a fraction of what’s been going on with the company and its Caesars Online Casino brand in the last few months. Caesars now earned the title of most active sports-betting entrepreneur, following numerous partnerships - with the Oneida Indian Nation for NY sports betting, with the Philadelphia 76ers and with the New Jersey Devils for NJ sports betting. Should the NFL decide it’s finally ready to make the step, Caesars Casino will be more than prepared to become its official sports betting partner.
