2021 Super Bowl Odds: Oddsmakers Like The Chiefs To Repeat
Quickly following the Chiefs 31-20 win over the 49ers in early February, bookmaker released 20201 Super Bowl odds. The lines have shifted a bit since then but one thing remains the same: Kansas City one of the favorites to win it all in 2021.
In addition to the defending champs, however, plenty of teams have valuable odds when it comes to lifting the Lombardi Trophy in Tampa Bay. Here are a few teams to consider when it comes to Super Bowl 55 predictions:
Baltimore Ravens (+650 at FanDuel)
According to BetMGM, the Baltimore Ravens are favorites to win the 2021 Super Bowl with odds at +400.
The only issue with this is that Baltimore's odds are much more valuable at some other sites including FanDuel, where the payout is +650. If you're looking to back the Ravens, consider doing some line shopping for the best odds possible because this team has a chance to go all the way.
It should come as no surprise that this team is favored over so many heavyweights after going 14-2 to easily secure the top spot in the AFC.
Lamar Jackson is coming off a tremendous MVP season, playing a role in the Ravens ridiculously good ground game in 2019 while continuing to improve as a passer. The defense was also third in the league in points allowed last year and head coach John Harbaugh is a great tactician who will continue to innovate.
We think the 28-12 home loss to the Titans in the divisional round taught Jackson and his teammates a lesson, and its time to expect Baltimore to get close to the mountain top.
Kansas City Chiefs (+600 at BetMGM)
The reigning champs are +600 favorites to win the Super Bowl LV on several apps including BetMGM thanks to a terrifyingly prolific offense, and it's hard to argue with the public's obsession with betting on them.
We all know it starts with Patrick Mahomes, the proud owner of a new $503 million contract. Kansas City averaged nearly 40 points per game in the postseason and should be able to produce some gaudy numbers once again. Thanks to Mahomes, the Chiefs overcame a 10-point deficit in Super Bowl LIV, scoring 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.
The Chiefs proved that not all championships are won with defense, even though Kansas City's unit proved to be more than good enough. They were seventh in the NFL in points allowed per game, 17th in total yards surrendered, and played a massive role giving the offense time to do its thing.
If Mahomes stays healthy, everything is possible for Kansas City. The 24-year-old signal-caller is simply unstoppable, especially when he can count on playmakers like Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and newly-drafted Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Definitely consider the Chiefs for your Super Bowl 55 predictions.
San Francisco 49ers (+1000 at BetMGM)
The Niners were less than a quarter away from pulling out the victory in Super Bowl LIV, but then Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs happened. Despite this, the Niners are worth a look for your predictions this time around and bookies tend to agree, as San Francisco has the third-lowest odds to win at most online betting sites.
San Francisco's defense starring Nick Bosa is undoubtedly elite, ranking second in defensive DVOA at Football Outsiders. The offense, on the other hand, features some talented playmakers in RB Raheem Mostert and WR Deebo Samuel. Jimmy Garoppolo knows his role under center, and George Kittle is certainly one of the top weapons in football, nevermind just among tight ends.
This team will have a tougher road this year than last but don't forget how close the Niners were last year, and take these odds into account.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+1500 at FanDuel)
The arrival of Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski has transformed the Bucs into major players in the NFC South, and the team has become a favorite among bettors at multiple sites.
Some would say that all Tampa Bay needed was a stable quarterback situation after going 7-9 despite 30 interceptions from Jameis Winston. Well, they have that now to go with a whole host of weapons.
Mike Evans is a three-time Pro-Bowler who has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in each of his six NFL seasons. Chris Godwin had a breakout campaign in 2019, tallying 86 receptions for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns, so the Bucs' receiving corps is loaded without even adding Gronkowski in there.
The defense was stour last year, especially against the running game. If it can keep opponents off the board for long enough while Brady and the offense get rolling, there could be some value left on the Bucs odds here.
