MLB Futures - Updated Odds To Win The 2019 World Series

The Major League Baseball All-Star break gives players and fans alike an opportunity to hit the reset button and prepare for the stretch run into the always-thrilling postseason. The several-day respite also gives us the chance to take another look at World Series odds and consider some futures bets available on DraftKings, which remains among the best sportsbooks in New Jersey. Aside from breaking down the popular picks and betting favorites, we have a few suggestions for longshots that could earn a bigger payday if they go on a major run in October.

2019 World Series Odds: Dodgers Favored With Yankees, Astros Close Behind

Several divisions across baseball looked like no-contests at the All-Star break due to the dominance of one team and the NL West, AL East and AL West. This trio of division leaders currently sit atop the odds due to incredible first-half performances and look poised for potentially deep postseason runs. Before making any MLB futures predictions, check out each team's odds on DraftKings and see where each stands in comparison to before the season.

  • Los Angeles Dodgers (+280 on DraftKings)

The Dodgers came into the season as the betting favorite in the National League, but have overtaken the Yankees for lowest odds to win the World Series across MLB after a blistering 60-32 first half. The two-time defending NL champions went 37-17 over May and June, ending the NL West race and putting the regular season into cruise control as they sit near the top of the league in most relevant offensive and pitching categories. Los Angeles could've been had at +800 on Opening Day, but that line has careened down to +280. After two straight World Series appearances, one must ask themselves, is this team ready to get over the hump? The experience is there, so if the answer is yes, try tripling your money with the best team in the National League.

  • New York Yankees (+350 on DraftKings)

According to 2019 World Series odds on Opening Day, the Yankees were the betting favorite at +600 and saw the most bets and handle of any team in the league on the DraftKings app. While they aren't at the top of the list anymore, the Bronx Bombers are a close second with +350 odds. Despite a rash of injuries at nearly every position early in the season, New York built the current 6.5-game lead with a "next man up" approach, which has led to the third-most runs in baseball and the top record in the American League at the All-Star break. Even though the line has dropped, MLB picks on the Yankees still have some value as you can still get more than triple your original investment as New York chases ring No. 28.

  • Houston Astros (+400 on DraftKings)

Like the Dodgers, Houston separated itself from the other teams in its division right from the start, making any "race" for the AL West nonexistent. And like the Yankees, the Astros have dealt with injuries to major contributors and kept it moving right along. This roster is getting healthier and has as much playoff experience as nearly any other in the league, so a shot at quadrupling money on DraftKings might be hard to pass up considering this team has a top-four ERA and is second in slugging and OPS. Houston began the season at +650 and hasn't lost all of its value at +400 currently, despite being tied for the most wins in baseball. They're also nearly a lock to add more pitching depth at the deadline, as many of these teams will look to do.

Potential World Series Longshots On DraftKings

It may look like the Dodgers, Yankees or Astros are going to take home baseball's ultimate prize at the end of the season, but there is still value to be found in teams that aren't currently sitting in first place. Several clubs with great chances to clinches playoff berths come with juicy World Series odds on DraftKings Sportsbook.

2019 World Series Longshot Suggestions

  • Atlanta Braves (+850)

The Braves do have the fourth-best odds to win the World Series at +850, so this isn't exactly a longshot selection. Still, oddsmakers have Atlanta a good distance behind the Dodgers and good value comes with the NL East leaders because of it. The Braves have an interesting mix of young startup talent and stable veterans that can help them propel past the NLDS, where things halted a season ago. Bets made by Opening Day on the Braves at +2000 or higher currently hold the most value of any team in the league, but the payout in midsummer is large enough to still take your shot.

  • Chicago Cubs (+2000)

A team is going to emerge in the NL Central, and if it's the Cubs, could another World Series run be in store? If not for a miserable stretch leading up to the break, Chicago's half-game lead would be much bigger and we think the public has been tricked into thinking this team isn't as talented as it is. The Cubbies are the class of the division and we know that Theo Epstein will get help for Chicago and that combined with this team just finding its first-half footing again will make them a dangerous MLB pick down the stretch. It's also definitely worth mentioning that odds are more profitable now than before the season began at +1400.

  • Boston Red Sox (+2800)

We aren't overlooking the Red Sox, despite the fact that they need pitching in the worst way. The offense is tied for the MLB lead in average and runs at the All-Star break with a lineup that is similar enough to last year's 2018 World Series team. Because they trail the Yankees by nine games and are of the Wild Card by two games, the +650 Opening Day odds on Boston have exploded after receiving the fourth-most preseason bets at DraftKings. With odds currently at +2800, there are much worse MLB picks when looking for value plays, as all Boston needs is to get into the playoffs with some added help to the staff at the deadline to give itself a chance at repeating.
