Yankees Lead The Way For World Series Predictions on DraftKings Sportsbook

The New York Yankees are currently among the odds-on favorites to win the 2019 World Series, so it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that most of the NJ sports betting activity is being placed on them. As it stands currently on the DraftKings Sportsbook app, the Yankees can be had at +650 to win their 28th world championship. Exactly how much of the action the Bronx Bombers are seeing, however, is pretty overwhelming.

The Yankees not only taking the highest percentage of bets at 29.4 percent, they are also seeing an impressive amount of the handle (total amount of money wagered on a given market).

At 38.7% of the take, the amount bet on the Yankees to this point is more than doubles the amount bet on the next most popular team. The Phillies have seen 23.5 percent of all sports betting picks and 18.9 percent of the total handle.

Why Are The Yankees Taking On Most World Series Bets?

The geographical component like needs to be taken into consideration when looking at these World Series betting results. In New Jersey, the three most populous MLB fanbases are the Yankees, Mets and Phillies. That demographic is likely to produce sports betting results that wind up with those three teams being involved.

The Yankees aren’t only the most popular MLB team in terms of fans, they’re possibly the best team in baseball and the dominance of sports betting totals on the Yankees at DraftKings Sportsbook is a direct result of a combination of the two.

For NJ sports betting players who bleed Yankee blue, taking your own team could also be the smart play. Despite the Yankees having odds as low as any Major League team at +650, the numbers show the odds are still good enough to garner tons of futures bets.

On the field, New York boasts one of the most prodigious offenses in baseball featuring several stars in its lineup. Nearly half of the daily offensive unit is made up of Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Gary Sanchez and Gleyber Torres, a “big four” that any manager would be lucky to trot out each day.

New York trailed only the 2018 World Series champion Red Sox in major offensive categories like slugging (.451) and OPS (.781). In 2018, they set an MLB record with 267 home runs as a team and are capable of eclipsing that mark this season. The Yankees also feature a fearsome pitching staff on the back end with the lines of Zack Britton, Adam Ottavino, Dellin Betances and Aroldis Chapman.

DraftKings Sportsbook Players Also Making MLB Predictions On NL East

Behind the Yankees in both sports betting handle and total number of wagers are three NL East teams, all of which with aspirations of making a deep playoff run. The Phillies, Mets and Nationals (in that order) are the next three most popular MLB picks on DraftKings Sportsbook for World Series winner.

Phillies - The Phillies signed Bryce Harper in late February and immediately became one of the hottest sports betting picks on DraftKings Sportsbook, seeing nearly a quarter of the bets and almost a fifth of the handle. The Phillies, who are now odds-on favorites to win the NL East, have the fifth-lowest World Series odds at +1000. They are similar to the Yankees in that they’re good enough to win it all and have plenty of fans among NJ sports betting players. A strong pitching staff starring Aaron Nola should complement a potent lineup.

Nationals - Losing Bryce Harper can’t help Washington, and it already feels like they’re being written off by many, but they still have an incredibly deep staff featuring Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg and Pat Corbin. Young stars like Trea turner and Juan Soto will have to shoulder the load, but this team should remain in the playoff hunt without Harper. The Nationals are +1600 on the DraftKings Sportsbook app to win their first World Series, which is fourth among NL teams. They’re getting jus 1.7 percent of the bets, but 7.3 percent of the handle.

Mets - New York’s other team enters 2019 with one of the league’s best pitching rotations after posting the sixth-best starter’s ERA in baseball. Health is always a factor with this group, but additions like Robinson Cano on on offense and Edwin Diaz in the bullpen should help. They have the talent to win the division and can be had on the DraftKings app for +2200. At 13.2 percent of the bets and 14 percent the handle, however, most of the bets being placed on them are likely NJ sports betting players wagering with their hearts.

Sports Betting On Boston Repeat Rounds Out Popular World Series Picks

Rounding out the top five most popular teams on DraftKings Sportsbook are the 2018 World Series champion Boston Red Sox. A repeat is never easy, but Boston remains an odds-on favorite at +650 with the Yankees and the 2017 champion Houston Astros.

J.D. Martinez and Mookie Betts lead the league’s most dangerous offense form last season, and ace Chris Sale heads a staff that shut down every offense if faced en route to the 2018 World Series victory. The Red Sox are currently seeing 4.3 percent of the bets from NJ sports betting players on the DraftKings Sportsbook app, amounting to three percent of the total handle.
