NJ Sports Betting Predictions: MLB Picks Using FanDuel Sportsbook Odds

Atlanta Braves (-110) @ St. Louis Cardinals

Though only 21 years of age, Mike Soroka has emerged as the best pitcher on Atlanta’s staff  so far in 2019. Five starts at the MLB level last season seemed to have done the right-hander some good, and he’s improved on that small sample in nearly every way.

Soroka has jumped to 8.26 strikeouts per nine innings while leaving an incredible 87.2 percent of runnings on base. Batters are hitting just .203 on balls in play off the righty after hitting .345 in his short stint last season. Soroka’s incredible 1.01 ERA is put into context by his 2.88 FIP, but his effectiveness this season remains unquestioned.

The Braves’ offense has been just average in many ways, but Dakota Hudson pitches to contact. Atlanta is a team that  puts the ball in play and has a top-10 BABIP to this point in the season. They do enough to back the young Soroka for our first MLB pick.

Pick: Atlanta Braves (-110 on FanDuel Sportsbook)

Texas Rangers (+110) @ Los Angeles Angels

The Rangers are slight underdogs on FanDuel Sportsbook with Mike Minor on the mound in Los Angeles, and we like the matchup. The Angels have struggles against lefties, ranking 27th in slugging and 26th in OPS vs. left-handed pitching this season. Minor, however, has improved as a starter from last season. His strikeout percentage has gone from 20.6 to 25.9 while he’s stranding 84.1 percent of baserunners this season. Basck to throwing more fastballs and less changeups, Minor is much more efficient. Overall, he sports a 2.64 ERA and 3.24 FIP to this point.

The Rangers’ offense isn’t anything special against lefties as they face Tyler Skaggs, but remain dangerous anytime as they rank third overall in slugging and wOBA. Rangers on the road at plus-money on Saturday night.

Pick: Texas Rangers (+110 on FanDuel Sportsbook)

Rockies/Orioles Over 11.5 (-116)

This is a high total, but we still think the action at Coors Field sees at least 12 runs on Saturday. Kyle Freeland hasn’t replicated 2018 success and Andrew Cashner doesn’t inspire much more confidence. After an 8-6 slugfest on Friday night, we like more of the same once the offenses get into two tired bullpens on Saturday.

Dodgers/Pirates Under 8 (-116)

Joe Musgrove boasts a 3.05 FIP to go with a much improved BABIP compared to last season, while Hyun-Jin Ryu strands an incredible 95.5 percent of runners on base and has a 2.64 FIP on the year. These pitchers lead to a low-scoring affair in Pittsburgh

Seattle Mariners (+114)

Yusei Kikuchi seemed to find his stride in May, posting four quality starts in four tries. He’s improved his strikeout rate and stranded more runners than the first month of the season, and looks to close out May strong on the road in Oakland. Seattle is fourth in slugging ans 10th in OPS against right-handers and will face Mike fiers for a third time this season on Saturday.

Best Of Luck!
