MGM Resorts Works With NBA, NHL To Help NJ Sports Betting Explode

New Jersey sports betting and sports wagering, in general, was first embraced by the NBA, and July 2018's sponsorship deal with MGM Resorts International marked a new trend for relationships between sports leagues and titans of the gaming industry.

“As the landscape for sports betting in the U.S. continues to evolve at a rapid pace, MGM Resorts is a proven gaming leader for us to work with on this groundbreaking partnership,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver at the time of the deal.

After MGM's reported $25 million deal to be the official gaming partner of the NBA, MGM partnered with the NHL. The casino and gaming giant is now each league's first sports betting partner, featuring access to NBA data and branding at its retail and mobile sportsbook operations, along with MGM-sponsored promotions at major NHL events throughout the year, among other perks.

The FanDuel app and DraftKings app are the power players for the best sports betting apps, pulling in 60 percent of the market share, according to October's revenue report from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.

FanDuel’s deal with the NHL to become the league’s official daily fantasy partner features a series of promotional events, including the Winter Classic and All-Star Game.
