The calendar has flipped to April, but that doesn’t mean March Madness is behind us. The 68-team field in the 2019 NCAA Tournament has been slimmed down to the Final Four, which will be played in Minneapolis on Saturday, April 6 before the championship on Monday, April 8.
After a somewhat nondescript opening weekend, NJ sports betting players saw a series of incredible games that resulted in overtimes and upsets in the Elite Eight and Sweet 16. Now, there is just one No. 1 seed in the Final Four for the first time since 2016.
Perhaps an even bigger surprise is that the lone top seed standing isn’t Duke from the East Region, but Virginia from the South Region. Duke was by far the most popular bet to win the tournament before it began on many NJ sportsbooks, including the SugarHouse Sportsbook app. With so many taking a loss on the Blue Devils, plenty of NJ online sports betting players are looking at the last three games of the college basketball season as a way to turn the 2019 NCAA Tournament into a memorable one before it’s over.
Before placing any Final Four bets, take some time to decide which NJ sportsbook is right for you. Be sure to include SugarHouse Sportsbook in your search if you’re in the market for reliable lines for all sports, including basketball. Thankfully, we are able to use odds from SugarHouse Sportsbook all year-round to make sports betting predictions.
As we have done throughout 2019 March Madness, BonusSeeker will continue to provide NCAA Tournament picks leading up to the championship game on April 8. Also check out our March Madness Guide before the tournament closes and for extra sports information, read our Sports Betting 101 Guide!

No. 5 Auburn Tigers vs. No. 1 Virginia Cavaliers (-5.5) - 6:09pm
No. 1 Virginia enters the final four 5.5-point favorites over No. 5 seed Auburn on the SugarHouse Sportsbook app.
Virginia hasn’t quite completed its revenge tour, but it got a whole lot closer with an almost unbelievable win over Purdue. After Mamadi Diakite’s shot sealed a miraculous last-second effort tied the game in regulation, UVA pulled off an 80-75 overtime victory. The spread hovered around -4 and -4.5 for Virginia, so they also managed a cover for NJ online sports betting players.
Auburn lost a key player in the Sweet 16, then went down double-digits to Kentucky very early on in the Elite Eight. Through all that, however, the Tigers hung tough and continued to shoot until more started going in than missing. In the second half, Auburn utilized the three-point line to take the game to overtime before winning 77-71. The Tigers’ underdog line went from +2.5 to +5 in some places before tip-off, yet they win by six and reach the program’s first Final Four.
Auburn has proven its roster is deep enough to adjust losing an emerging star like Chume Okeke in the paint. Virginia, despite our doubts, has made its way to the Final Four and enters with confidence after beating Purdue. Still, we don't see them blowing anybody out. Auburn is capable of out-shooting Virginia’s defense, and can keep this game close even in a loss. Our Final Four prediction here is to consider sprinkling a little something on that Auburn +200 moneyline, but definitely take the points to be safe.
Pick: Auburn Tigers +5.5 (-114)
No. 3 Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. No. 2 Michigan State (-3) - 8:49pm
According to the SugarHouse Sportsbook app, No. 2 Michigan State is a three-point favorite over No. 3 Texas Tech in the Final Four. It’s interesting to have two teams so different in terms of NCAA Tournament and Final Four pedigree, but so similar in how they play.
Both programs are powered by veteran-laden defenses that rank top five nationally in field goal percentage and overcame pretty large odds to reach the Final Four as underdogs in the Elite Eight. Texas Tech beat Michigan and Gonzaga, while the Spartans slayed the giant that was Duke after beating LSU handily.
The Red Raiders poured in 75 points while forcing 16 turnovers and holding the top scoring offense in the country to its third-lowest total of the season, winning by six in a game in which they were underdogs by four points. Michigan State forced the top overall seed and arguably most talented team in the nation into 17 turnovers and escaped with a one-point in out of an East Region many thought they were unlucky to be in. NJ online sports betting players who backed the Spartans made a huge payday with an underdog unfamiliar with the role in the Elite Eight.
It wouldn’t surprise us to see Tom Izzo and Michigan State ride this one all the way to the championship, but we’re still going with Texas Tech to keep it close or spoil the party altogether for our second Final Four pick. Texas Tech may be the most complete team of any remaining group and they’re ready for the big stage as much as Michigan State is. It's a close battle that comes down to the final few possessions with the Red Raiders hanging until the end.
Pick: Texas Tech +3 (-108)
