NCAA Picks: Top College Basketball Plays of the Day
No. 3 Texas Tech vs. No. 1 Gonzaga Bulldogs (-4) - 6:14pm
The West Region final of the 2019 NCAA Tournament features No. 1 Gonzaga as a four-point favorite over No. 3 Texas Tech, according to the PointsBet Sportsbook app. Gonzaga got revenge for last year’s loss against Florida State in the Sweet 16 while NJ online sports betting players who backed Texas Tech got a dominant win over Michigan.
Gonzaga’s offense appears to be clicking with four of the starting five scoring in double figures in the last game led by Rui Hachimura. And although the Bulldogs slipped up in the second half vs. the Seminoles, the game was never in doubt nearly the entire time. But speaking of games not being in doubt, Texas Tech put the clamps on the Wolverines, who tallied just 44 points on the Red Raiders. Tech plays some of the toughest defense in the country and is also capable of scoring when it needs to with potential NBA lottery pick Jarrett Culver leading the way. Although our bracket is busted, it still had Tech in the Final four and we are sticking with that sports betting pick for our West Region Elite Eight prediction.
Pick: Texas Tech Red Raiders +4 (-105)
No. 3 Purdue Boilermakers vs. No. 1 Virginia Cavaliers (-4.5) - 8:54pm
The No. 1 seed Virginia comes into the South Region Final of the 2019 NCAA Tournament as 4.5-point favorites on PointsBet Sportsbook. Virginia scraped out a win in a low-scoring affair with Oregon while Purdue won the most thrilling game of the tournament in overtime, knocking off Tennessee.
Purdue busted our bracket with Tennessee going all the way (we aren’t bitter or anything) with unreal three-point shooting and perseverance in overtime. Yes, they got some help from the officials at the end, but it’s time to move on. Now, we are comfortably on the Boilermaker bandwagon and taking them as our South Region Elite Eight sports betting pick over Virginia, which can’t be trusted offensively. If Virginia gets hot from deep it could spell some trouble, but Purdue has been hot from deep for games already and should be able to score a bit, even on the vaunted Cavaliers defense. Purdue has earned the faith we place in them as one of our March Madness betting picks, plus they’re getting two buckets.
Pick: Purdue Boilermakers +4.5 (-105)

No. 3 Purdue Boilermakers vs. No. 1 Virginia Cavaliers (Over 129/Under 126) - 10:02pm
The over/under for the Elite Eight matchup between Purdue and Viginia is set at 126 points on PointsBet Sportsbook. Purdue’s Sweet 16 game soared over the total while UVA and Oregon didn’t come close to the total with a paltry 102 combined points, so something needs to give in this Elite Eight matchup.
In our view, Purdue and Viginia shoot the ball too well to be held down the same way Oregon was. Even with a slow pace, we feel the execution will be enough to where a few fouls and free throws at the end push us over the 130-point mark. Poor offensive execution could make this over a painful one to root for, but online sports betting players putting faith in this over should see a balance between the Sweet 16 games each of these teams play.
A safer play would be to take the traditional fixed-odds over 126, which provides a bit more room for error than modified PointsBetting lines.
PointsBetting Pick: Purdue/Virginia Over 129
