March Madness is right around the corner and college basketball teams all over the country are looking to polish up those resumes with hopes of landing a good spot in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
It’s also an exciting time for NJ sports betting, which will experience legal wagering in the Garden State on college basketball’s biggest event for the first time. As always, this Saturday is packed with matchups featuring some of the nation’s top teams.

NCAAB Sports Betting Picks: Top College Basketball Plays of the Day
UCF Knights @ No. 8 Houston Cougars (-7.5) - 4pm
Houston enters Saturday’s matchup with American Athletic Conference foe UCF as 7.5-point favorites on 888 Sportsbook, and for good reason. Houston is a perfect 18-0 at home and that is unlikely to change today, although UCF is playing great basketball as well. The Cougars took down the Knights by nine points earlier this season and I’d expect more of the same on Houston’s home floor. UCF has covered six straight, but is 0-4 ATS (against the spread) in the last four vs. Houston. The Cougars, meanwhile, are 6-2 ATS in its last eight at home and the favorite is 4-0 ATS in recent history between these two teams. Taking Houston, who is likely to be No. 2 or better come March Madness, by double digits for our first free NCAAB pick today.
Pick: Houston Cougars -7.5
No. 11 Texas Tech Red Raiders (-3.5) @ TCU Horned Frogs - 4pm
Texas Tech visits TCU as 3.5-point favorites, according to 888 sport. The Big 12 is a tough conference to win on the road and at TCU is no different. The Horned Frogs are 12-3 and 10-5 ATS at home this season, but are squarely on the bubble and know a statement win over a team like Tech may get them into the 2019 NCAA Tournament. The Red Raiders, however, have something to play for also despite being locked into March Madness. Texas Tech sits tied atop the Big 12 and ghas a shot to be the first team not named Kansas to win the conference since 2004. It is a very big deal and as a team with six straight wins and one of the best defenses around (not to mention top NBA pick Jarrett Culver), give me Texas Tech to cover for our second of our NCAAB picks today.
Pick: Texas Tech Red Raiders -3.5
No. 5 North Carolina Tar Heels (-4.5) @ Clemson Tigers - 6pm
North Carolina is on the road at Clemson as 4.5-point favorites on 888 Sportsbook. The Tigers are a good home team at 12-3, but are just 6-9 ATS in those games. Carolina is 9-1 on the road this season and 9-1 against the spread, while also covering the last seven away games vs. a team with a winning record (including a big win at Dukle). UNC doesn’t shy away when leaving home and despite not being spoken about as much this season, they’re No. 5 in the nation and will be very dangerous come March Madness. Clemson could be in for a rude awakening, as the Tar Heels have also covered four of the last five when visiting the Tigers.
Pick: North Carolina -4.5
NCAAB Over/Under Pick Of The Day
No. 1 Gonzaga Bulldogs @ St. Mary’s Gaels (Over-Under 145) - 10pm
The total for Gonzaga and St. Mary’s is set at 145 on 888 sport and this number may seem low at first, but we are still going under. Gonzaga is currently the top team in the nation and obviously far-and-away the best team in the West Coast Conference. St. Mary’s best bet is to try and slow the game down as best they can. The last meeting between these two didn’t make it to 120 points in a blowout Gonzaga win and although this game definitely will reach that number, I don’t see it being a shootout. The Gaels have gone under in seven of the last nine at home while the under has hit in four of the Bulldogs’ last five road games. The under also dominates in this matchup and this one tonight should be no different.
Best of luck!
