The 2020 NFL season is rapidly approaching and as it gets closer, we are previewing each division from a betting perspective and getting a feel for some of the many futures markets available for each team at online betting sites in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and other states where wagering is legal.

To start things off, we are taking a look at the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, and the Washington Football Team as we make 2020 NFC East predictions!

Who Will Win The NFC East In 2020?

According to oddsmakers, this is a two-team race between Dallas and Philadelphia, and we have to agree. Both New York and Washington are more than likely headed for under .500 seasons and won’t be a factor in the division race.

Any pick on this division is best suited for the Cowboys or Eagles, even if the odds are a bit modest for both.

So who will win the NFC East in 2020? To us, the division’s best team is the Dallas Cowboys. And at even money, there’s still some value on that, even if Philly has a slightly larger payout. Some sites have Dallas at -105, -110, or even closer to -120, so the price at BetMGM is favorable if looking at the favorites.

Dallas has undergone a facelift on the coaching staff and has improved at multiple positions including the defensive line and defensive backfield along with the receiving corps. This team and the Eagles should be in a pretty tight race the whole way but Dallas checks more boxes and could finally live up to the expectations set by its roster talent.

Remember that Philadelphia rattled off four straight wins to close last season to finish 9-7 and win a division title. At the same time, Dallas lost four of six to close the season at 8-8. We don’t see the same kind of thing happening in November and December this time around.

NFC East Division Winner Pick: Dallas Cowboys (+100 at BetMGM)

NFC East Win Total Predictions

  • Dallas Cowboys Over 9.5 (-150 at DraftKings)

The Cowboys are going into the 2020 season as the favorites to win the division, so it makes sense the win total is higher than every other team in the NFC East. At BetMGM, exactly 10 wins for Dallas is the favorite and when you go through the schedule, it’s easy to see.

We are willing to give Dallas a 4-2 divisional record, which would feature a split with the Eagles and a split with one of the other two teams, more likely the Giants. From there, we are looking for a few more wins with games against Atlanta, Arizona, Cleveland, and Cincinnati to name a few.

It’s possible that no NFC East team gets over 9.5 wins but the Cowboys have the best chance under new coach Mike McCarthy.

  • Philadelphia Eagles Over 9 Wins (-134 at DraftKings)

Philly went 5-1 against the NFC East lear but this time, we are only willing to give the Eagles a split with the Cowboys and probably with one other team. Take those four victories and add matchups against the Browns, Cardinals, Rams, and Bengals to name a few of the other winnable games.

In the end, we think nine wins and a possible playoff berth is on the table for Philly. This feels like a push number so if you can find over 8.5 or under 9.5, perhaps that’s preferred.

  • New York Giants Under 6 (+103 at DraftKings)

With two teams in the division clearly ahead of them and a schedule featuring only so many winnable games on it, getting past six wins could be a tall task.

New York is definitely ahead of Washington, but losing Nate Solder from the offensive line is a huge loss for a team needing to protect its second-year quarterback. The Giants are probably capable of winning seven or eight games, but it’s much more likely they win five or six with who they are set to face.

  • Washington Football Team Over 5 Wins (-143 at DraftKings)

It’s actually a little bit painful to be positive about the Washington Football Team, but here we are. Prior to the 3-13 campaign in 2019, this team had won at least six games in the previous four years and it also added Ron Rivera and Jack Del Rio to the coaching staff.

This group may not have a mascot, but it can still get five wins, especially if it can grab two from its division rivals somehow. They may be a step behind the Giants but could only wind up with maybe one less win when it’s all said and done.

2020 NFC East Record Predictions

As an offshoot of over/under wins, we will turn that into an exact record prediction for each team. This can be a useful exercise since some sites offer lucrative odds for selecting the exact number of wins a team may have.

It’s also an extremely difficult thing to do before the season. There’s a good chance that oddsmakers are exactly right with a few of these and some totals are push numbers, but that won’t stop us from making some educated guesses.

  • Dallas Cowboys Record Prediction: 10-6
  • Philadelphia Eagles Record Prediction: 9-7
  • New York Giants Record Prediction: 6-10
  • Washington Football Team Record Prediction: 5-11

2020 NFL Predictions: NFC East Best Bets
