Daily Fantasy Sports: How To Play DFS

You might be a newcomer to DFS and asking yourself: how does DraftKings work?

On the DraftKings DFS app, players can choose from a seemingly endless number of fantasy contests with different game styles, experience levels, contest types, entry fees, and prizes to help narrow down the options. Once finding the most preferable contest, you build your lineup according to the rules of the game you've chosen to join.

Since there are games on Thursday, Sunday evening and Monday as well, there are also a number of scheduling options to determine which games and players will be eligible for your lineup:

  • Sunday 1 PM - 10 Games (All 1 PM & 4 PM Games)
  • Sunday 1 PM - 12 Games (All Sunday and Monday Games)
  • Sunday 1 PM - 7 Games (Early Only)
  • Sunday 4 PM - 3 Games (Afternoon Only)
  • Sunday 4:25 PM - 2 Games (Afternoon Turbo)

Going with the 10 games slated to kick off throughout Sunday afternoon, we'll build two classic lineups, which covers a huge range of contests. Each roster consists of nine players and comes with a $50,000 salary cap, which equals an average of $5,556 per player.

NFL Week 10 DraftKings Lineups

Once again, there are only 10 games to choose from on Sunday afternoon but that's no excuse for not building a lineup that can put up some points. Thanks to our own research and the DraftKings lineup optimizer, we've got two lineups to work with for Week 10.

NFL Week 10 DFS Lineup: The Michael Thomas Fantasy Lineup

  • QB Jameis Winston (TB, $6,800) - It doesn't always look pretty, but Winston hs delivered the past couple of weeks from a fantasy perspective. The matchup is right this week against an Arizona defense ranking near the bottom of the league in pass defense DVOA.
  • RB Marlon Mack (IND, $7,000) - Whether it's a hobbled Jacoby Brissett or Brian Hoyer at QB, Mack will be relied on. Against the Dolphins defense, there's a great chance for success given the number of touches he's getting.
  • RB Derrick Henry (TEN, $6,400) - Kansas City's weaknesses on defense set up perfectly for the Titans to ride Henry up and down the field. The running back also had a season-high three catches in addition to a rushing touchdown in Week 9.
  • WR Michael Thomas (NO, $8,300) - Thomas is the only big star on our roster. He's notched 20 receptions and nearly 250 yards receiving with two scores over the past two weeks. The Falcons' porous pass defense has no way of stopping Drew Brees from finding his No. 1 target.
  • WR D.J. Moore (CAR, $5,200) - The Panthers' offense runs through Christian McCaffery and it's hard to predict how things will go for other skill position players, but Moore has seen double-digit targets in two of the past three games and went for 101 yards last week.
  • WR Christian Kirk (ARI, $5,200) - Kyler Murray is going to need to throw the ball against Tampa Bay's defense and Kirk should see closer to the 11 targets he saw two games ago than the five targets he saw last week.
  • TE Chris Herndon (NYJ, $3,800) - It looks as though Herndon will finally make his 2019 debut after a suspension and injury ate up half the season. He should immediately become vital in a Jets offense that needs as many weapons as possible.
  • FLEX DeVante Parker (MIA, $4,800) - We included Parker in one of our lineups last week and he delivered with his third touchdown in four games. Without many options on offense, Parker is averaging eight targets per game over the past three weeks.
  • DEF Cleveland Browns ($2,500) - Strictly from a value standpoint, the Browns can deliver. In order to get better players at the skill positions, sometimes the defense is a necessary sacrifice. For what it's worth, Buffalo isn't a high-flying offense and this game could feature heavy winds.

DraftKings is not only one of the industry leaders in DFS, but it also operates as an online casino and one of the biggest NJ betting sites in the state in addition to recently expanding to Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

NFL Week 10 DFS Lineup: Deuces Wild At Running Back

  • QB Aaron Rodgers (GB, $6,600) - There's not much to say other than Rodgers is an MVP candidate and it's hard to envision both the QB and Packers' offense flopping a second week in a row, especially at home.
  • RB Mark Ingram II (BAL, $7,100) - Ingram went cold for a few weeks before exploding for 115 yards against New England on Sunday night. With the Bengals up next, Ingram should be able to pile up yards in a similar fashion and hopefully find the endzone for the first time since Week 6.
  • RB Ronald Jones II (TB, $4,300) - Jones is the Bucs' primary running back after getting 20 touches and a touchdown last week. Against Arizona, he could find some success as he takes over the starting role.
  • WR Cooper Kupp (LAR, $7,300) - The Rams coming off the bye should bode well for the offense, and Kupp is capable of a monster game at any point. In London two weeks ago, Kupp totaled 220 receiving yards and has now seen double-digit targets in five games.
  • WR Golden Tate (NYG, $5,900) - Tate is a steal against a Jets defense that is decent against the run but has legitimately awful cornerback play nearly every week and cannot cover legitimate slot threats.
  • WR Jamison Crowder (NYJ, $5,000) - Crowder comes at a great price and is a receiver that QB Sam Darnold trusts. So even in a struggling Jets offense, the wideout made eight catches and earned his first touchdown of the season last week.
  • TE Austin Hooper (ATL, $5,500) - Hooper is the definition of success at the tight end position, posting at least four receptions in every game this year. He's gone for a score in each of the past three and the Saints do allow chunks of yardage in the air.
  • FLEX Zach Pascal (IND, $5,300) - With T.Y. Hilton sidelined, Pascal is a valuable commodity. He racked up 76 yards and a touchdown last week and has a great matchup against a weak Miami defense.
  • DEF Los Angeles Rams ($3,000) - The Rams have allowed 10 points in each of its past two games and come off the bye, albeit across the country and on the road. The Steelers' offense isn't the most high-powered and could feature a hobbled John Conner.
