NHL Futures: Favorites To Win 2020 Stanley Cup

The 2018-19 Presidents’ Trophy winners were also huge favorites to win last season’s Stanley Cup title before suffering a first-round sweep at the hands of Columbus. Despite the  embarrassing end to last year, oddsmakers recognize the Bolts as mostly the same group that cut through the league a season ago, and they are across-the-board favorites once again. For the best price of +750, NHL futures picks on the Lightning should be made at  DraftKings, SugarHouse or 888 Sportsbook.

After making it all the way to the Stanley Cup Final in its first season, Vegas finally lost a series to a Western Conference opponent in 2019 when they were on the short end of an epic Game 7 against San Jose. Still, the Golden Knights possess one of the strongest rosters in the league along with a great home-ice advantage and strong leadership under Gerard Gallant. Most NJ online sports betting operators agree on Vegas +1000 to win the championship, and those odds can be found at any of the following books: FanDuel, DraftKings, Resorts, SugarHouse, 888 Sportsbook, Golden Nugget or BetStars.

  • Boston Bruins (+1200 at Caesars Sportsbook)

The Bruins came within one win of the 2019 Stanley Cup, losing in Game 7 to St. Louis on home ice after an impressive run through the Eastern Conference. Like Tampa, the  Bruins have most of the roster in place from a season ago, giving oddsmakers the idea that Boston will compete once again for a title. Most odds were around +1000, but the most profitable odds are +1200 can be found at Caesars Sportsbook.

The Maple Leafs were a 100-point team a season ago and lost in Game 7 of the first round to Boston. One would figure they’re a playoff team again, but Toronto is in the middle of a game of chicken with its most skilled offensive player, Mitch Marner, and it’s tough to tell how this team will look if he somehow doesn’t return. Many sportsbooks have them in the +1000 to +1200 range, but if bettors want to take a shot  on Toronto, they may as well do it at 888sport, SugarHouse or DraftKings to get the advantageous +1500 payout.

  • Colorado Avalanche  (+1600 at DraftKings, 888 Sport and SugarHouse)

Top open as a top-five Stanley Cup contender says a ton about what oddsmakers think of the Avalanche. Colorado emerged as a team to be reckoned with as it reached the postseason and then knocked out the top overall seed in the West. Several pieces on this young roster broke out last year, and most of those names will be the same. With a new goalie coming in and some free agency moves, Colorado could be worth every bit of the +1600 odds.

  • St. Louis Blues  (+1600 at DraftKings, 888sport app and SugarHouse)

Despite having the worst Stanley Cup odds of any team to begin 2019 and were in last place on January 3rd, the St. Louis Blues went on an incredible run that resulted in its first championship in team history. They feature a star goaltender and have earned the reputation as a team that’s proven it  can make that deep run, so oddsmakers are showing the Blues some more respect. The Central Division is stacked, and St. Louis has +1600 odds at a few locations just like Colorado does.

  • Nashville Predators (+1800 on playMGM, Borgata and Caesars)
  • San Jose Sharks  (+2000 on PointsBet)
  • Calgary Flames (+2000 at Caesars)
  • Washington Capitals (+2200 at Caesars)

2020 Stanley Cup: Mid-Tier NJ Online Sports Betting Odds

  • Dallas Stars (+2500 at Resorts and Golden Nugget)
  • Pittsburgh Penguins (+2500 at Caesars)
  • Florida Panthers (+2500 at various sports betting sites)
  • Carolina Hurricanes (+3000 at PointsBet and BetStars NJ)
  • Arizona Coyotes (+3500 at various sports betting sites)
  • NY Islanders (+3500 at various sports betting sites)
  • NY Rangers (+4000 at PointsBet)

The Rangers have successfully pulled off an accelerated rebuild, complete with No. 2 overall draft pick Kappo Kakko and  star winger Artemi Panarin choosing Madison Square Garden in free agency. General manager Jeff Gorton has expertly guided this group back into a playoff team that will be a force  or years to come. This team may not be ready for a Stanley Cup in the upcoming season, but they remain a dark horse to make significant noise in the Eastern Conference and still have a top goalie in Henrik Lundqvist. PointsBet offering +4000 seems like a terrific number, especially considering some of the teams with lesser odds.

  • Montreal Canadiens (+4000 at Caesars)
  • Philadelphia Flyers (+4000 at PointsBet and Caesars)
  • Chicago Blackhawks (+4000 at various sports betting sites)

Longshot NHL Future Odds For 2019-20 Season

  • New Jersey Devils (+5000 at PointsBet)
  • Columbus Blue Jackets (+5000 at Caesars and PointsBet)
  • Edmonton Oilers (+5000 at Caesars)
  • Vancouver Canucks (+6000 at Caesars)
  • Buffalo Sabres (+6600 at Borgata, MGM Sportsbook app and PointsBet)

The Sabres won 10 games in a row at one point last November, then didn’t put together more than two wins at one time for the rest of the season. With that said, there’s talent on this roster that can string together several wins at a time, something that separates them from most of the other lower-level options. While the consistency isn’t there and several more pieces need to be in place, the Sabres are a better team than most of the clubs with odds this high. If going for a major longshot, check out Buffalo before looking anywhere else in this section in terms of value.

  • Minnesota Wild (+7000 at Caesars)
  • Anaheim Ducks (+8000 at PointsBet)
  • Los Angeles Kings (+12500 at Caesars)
  • Detroit Red Wings (+15000 at 888 Sportsbook, Sugarhouse and DraftKings)
  • Ottawa Senators (+40000 at Caesars)

NHL Futures Betting: What NJ Sports Betting Odds Tell Us About 2019-20 Season

After looking around at all the NJ sportsbooks for NHL futures odds, there are a few things worth noting. First and foremost, a Caesars Sportsbook account may be a good idea if you have several teams on your radar. Caesars has surprisingly juicy lines for many of these teams and offers more value than its competitors in plenty of spots, which is a commodity near the top of the list for sports betting players.

When it comes to the upper-echelon teams with the lowest odds, there’s less variance from operator to operator. Many lines are in the same vicinity, with one or several offering a slightly more beneficial line than others. Beginning in the middle tier, there is some more variance and clear value starts to show itself, depending on the team.
