Following an NBA Draft Lottery that can be described as chaotic and somewhat stunning, there is sure to be plenty of NJ online sports betting action on the 2019 NBA Draft.
Odds have become now started to become available in many places, including on the DraftKings Sportsbook app.
With just a six percent chance to win the lottery, the New Orleans Pelicans organization stunningly found its name called last it earn the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, which is set to take place in June. There is little drama as to who will go first, as the lottery could’ve appropriately been the first of a two-part series called “The Zion Williamson NBA Draft Show” before Part II comes on June 20. The phenom from Duke is far-and-away the favorite to be taken No. 1 overall at -2500. The interesting angle for NJ sports betting players will be who gets taken after Williamson, where things are much less certain.

With the Pelicans more than likely taking Williamson, the question marks arise at No. 2 overall, where the Memphis Grizzlies currently sit. Below is the order for the top five picks in the 2019 NBA Draft following the lottery:
In a tier below Williamson is guard Ja Morant from Murray State and Williamson’s Duke teammate, guard RJ Barrett. According to odds from DraftKings Sportsbook, these two are heavily favored to be the No. 2 and No. 3 overall picks in the draft in some order.
At this point, Memphis is favored to take Morant at -125, but Barrett’s odds are +110. If the Grizzlies decide they’re happy with point guard Mike Conley, which is unlikely, forward Jarrett Culver from Texas Tech could be a dark-horse pick with profitable odds at +1600. NJ online sports betting players, however, would be smarter to wager on Morant or Barrett with the No. 2 overall pick, assuming Memphis stays there.
If the order does indeed hold, the general feeling in NBA circles is that the Knicks would select whoever is left over between Morant and Barrett. Before Williamson emerged as the most dominant force in NCAA basketball, it was Barrett who many thought would be the best player in the nation. It will be up to Memphis or New York whether he or Morant fits the billing as a franchise-altering player, but DraftKings Sportsbook odds tell us those two are next off the board.
As it turns out, one team’s gain is sever other team’s loss. As New Orleans wins the NBA Draft Lottery and the right to draft Williamson, the three teams with the highest odds to begin with were left out in the cold.
The New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls and Phoenix Suns had the three worst records in the NBA in 2019-19 and only New York was able to crack the top three. Thanks to the NBA restructuring the lottery, the three bottom teams are all given the same odds to win the No. 1 overall pick at 14 percent and NJ sports betting players could wager on any of those teams at +600 odds prior to the lottery on the DraftKings Sportsbook app.
The Pelicans, on the other hand, were at +1540 with just a six percent chance to win and turned into a massive payday for anyone who took them to find their way to No. 1 overall. In total, seven teams had better odds to land the top pick, but New Orleans defied the odds and now can add Zion Williamson to fill the void of potentially losing Anthony Davis.
