PointsBet Karma Kommittee Pays Back NJ Sports Betting Players Again

PointsBet Karma Kommittee Pays Back NJ Sports Betting Players Again

PointsBet Sportsbook has made it known from the very beginning of its tenure that they have the back of sports betting players in New Jersey.

This internal 'customer care' policy has continued to evolve with the assembling of the Karma Kommittee, aimed at deciding when to refund bettors who have suffered an undeserved loss of some kind. When PointsBet sees its players egregiously injusticed, it steps up to the plate with a Good Karma Payout and lets bettors know they’re being thought about the morning after a seemingly unfair call, play or event causes a given wager to lose.

Most recently, the PointsBet Sportsbook app decided to reward refunds to New Jersey bettors who backed the Boston Bruins’ moneyline following Game 5 of the 2019 Stanley Cup Final.

PointsBet Sportsbook Pays Back Bruins Bettors

Before we explain the details of the most recent Good Karma Payout from PointsBet Sportsbook, let’s lay out the situation.

Midway through the third period in Game 5 of a tied Stanley Cup Final, the Blues led the Bruins 1-0. It was at this time that St. Louis forward Tyler Bozak committed what was an obvious uncalled trip against Boston’s Noel Acciari. The trip not only should have been a penalty, it caused Acciari to lose the puck and remain on the ice injured while St. Louis gained control and scored the eventual game-winning goal.

This sent Boston fans and backers into an understandably irate frenzy. After falling behind by a pair, the Bruins scored to make it 2-1, which went on to be the final score, making matters even worse for those in New Jersey sports betting players who wagered on the Bruins.

In comes the PointsBet Sportsbook app to save the day. Following a meeting of the Karma Kommittee the morning after Game 5, it was determined that all who placed moneyline bets on the Bruins would be refunded after the unacceptable missed call that went against Boston in the third period!

That’s right! All moneyline bets on Boston were paid back IN FULL to sports bettors by PointsBet in the form of bonus funds!

NJ Sports Betting Players React To PointsBet Good Karma Payout

Rob (@Smarty3385), an avid sports bettor and horseplayer, offered his take to us;

“I heard about the refunded bets, and it’s comforting to know if something flagrant happens with an official or elsewhere, you could maybe get that money back. Kind of feels like a safety blanket,” Rob said.

As a sports betting veteran, Rob has tried several NJ operators before settling on PointsBet several months ago.

“It’s a small thing, but stuff like that goes a long way in retaining sportsbook bettors & even attracting new ones to your product. Other operators should take note here as PointsBet clearly wants to present a strong player-focused experience”

It’s hard to find any reaction other than a positive one to what the PointsBet Sportsbook app does with as far as the Karma Kommittee goes. For a player, there is only upside in feeling like your betting operator cares enough to refund bets even when they would make far more money if they didn’t.

In the past, Good Karma Payouts have been doled out on several occasions, including for Duke bettors after Zion Williamson was injured in the opening minutes against North Carolina prior to March Madness starting. With so many bets coming in on the Duke side, it was a substantial amount to pay pacl in bonus funds, but due to the unforeseen injury, PointsBet felt it was only right. That type of customer care is making the difference for NJ sports betting players all over the state.
