Seahawks vs. Eagles Predictions: 2020 NFL Playoff Betting Odds, Pick For Wild Card Weekend

The fifth-seeded Seattle Seahawks (11-5) will be traveling east as slight favorites on Wild Card weekend to take on the NFC East champion Philadelphia Eagles (9-7) at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday afternoon.

The home team opened as a slight favorite initially at most NJ betting sites, but early action has shifted the line to Seattle -2 (-110) following the Eagles’ bumpy road to the division title. You can currently get the over-under at 46 if using a SugarHouse Sportsbook promo code, but bettors may be able to find a better line depending on which side of the total you fall on.

Somebody had to win the NFC East and it was the Eagles at 9-7, though it wasn’t a comfortable ride by any means. Carson Wentz stepped up his game with a group of weapons you’ve never heard of, and now Philly gets to host a playoff game against a team in Seattle that was about six inches from winning in Week 17 and playing at home instead.

These two teams met in Week 12 with Seattle winning 17-9 behind 174 rushing yards and FIVE Eagles turnovers, which we wouldn’t expect to happen again. The Seahawks and Eagles actually have more in common than you may think since both have injury-riddled rosters that are relying on a star quarterback to make magic out of very little.

The numbers say these teams have more similarities, also. The Seahawks have lost their top three running backs to injury this season but still rank sixth in rushing offense DVOA according to Football Outsiders and are a top 10 time of possession team. Philadelphia ranks 10th in rushing and is No. 2 in time of possession, which shows both teams want to run the ball and control the clock.

One of the differences between the two is the efficiency with which Wilson has been able to lead the Seattle passing attack, which is fifth according to DVOA metrics. In a battle between two teams with injuries and flaws, the Seahawks might be just a bit more well-rounded.

2020 NFL Playoff Predictions: Wild Card Picks Against The Spread For Seahawks vs. Eagles

Philadelphia gets to play at home while Seattle travels, but Russell Wilson has a history of playoff experience and success to point at. What gives on Sunday afternoon?

The public is all over Seattle, and that’s a bit scary for us. This is exactly the type of game where after barely squeaking in, the Eagles put it all together and advance to the next round. They’re certainly capable of it, but that’s a trap we are willing to fall into.

Truth is, until Week 16 Philadelphia was trying to give away the NFC East, barely getting past teams like the Giants and losing to the Dolphins. They’ve turned a corner and earned an entirely new season because of it, but that shouldn’t let us forget that Seattle has put together a pretty impressive run of its own.

The Seahawks are just 7-8-1 against the spread this season, but 5-2-1 on the road, which speaks to the team’s ability to stay in games away from home. Without knowing the status of some major parts to the Eagles’ offense (TE Zach Ertz, OL Lane Johnson), it’s hard to bet against a Seattle team that has managed to beat Philadelphia once already, too.

Seahawks vs. Eagles Picks: NFL Wild Card Prop Bets For NFC Wild Card Game

In addition to the spread and total, there is also a myriad of NFL Wild Card prop betting lines available for the Seahawks-Eagles game. Wagering on props seems to pick up in the postseason with fewer games on the schedule to choose from, and online sportsbooks respond by offering a seemingly endless number of markets. At SugarHouse, nearly 200 categories can be chosen from up until kickoff. Below are a few suggestions for prop bets on Sunday afternoon:

  • Seattle Wins By 1-6 Points (+320) – We chose Seattle to squeak this one out in a close game, so we chose the away team with this bet as well. Use this as a lesson no matter which team you select, though. For games that you expect to be close and end by less than a score, picking a side to win by just 1-6 points can drastically increase the payout. Philadelphia by 1-6 points pays +335.
  • Carson Wentz Over 24.5 Completions (-112) – Wentz has played out of his mind over the last month, dragging the Eagles to the playoffs with a supporting cast that many fans didn’t know anything about until recently. Doug Pederson won’t stop relying on his quarterback now, and the Eagles winning this game will require Wentz to throw the ball quite a bit.
  • First Team To Reach 25 Points: Tie (+140) – Basically, this is a bet that neither team reaches 25 or more points in this game. The options are to select a team, or a tie, meaning neither reaches that mark. Both team totals are set slightly below this mark, so we could see one get to 24, but we don’t see a game high-scoring enough that either team is forced to go for more than that in a closely-contested game.

2020 NFL Playoff Bracket: Wild Card Matchups And Possible Divisional Round Games

NFL Playoff BracketPrint Your NFL Playoff Bracket Here!

The regular-season NFL schedule is complete and we finally have our matchups set up in the 2020 NFL playoff bracket. The teams in the postseason field didn’t change in Week 17, but the seedings may come as a bit of a surprise.

Following wins by San Francisco and Green Bay, respectively, those two teams locked in first-round byes in the NFC. This means the Saints are playing on Wild Card weekend despite being 13-3. The 49ers’ last-second win took that bye from New Orleans as well as the NFC West title from Seattle, ensuring San Francisco home-field advantage throughout.

In the AFC, we have the Patriots without a bye for the first time in 10 years thanks to a stunning loss to Miami and a Chiefs win to steal the No. 2 seed. New England would now be forced to play in Kansas City in a rematch of last year’s AFC title game in the divisional round if the Patriots get past the Titans.

Let’s look at the final NFL playoff standings and the matchups for Wild Card weekend and the divisional round:

AFC Playoff Standings

  1. Baltimore Ravens (14-2)*
  2. Kansas City Chiefs (12-4)*

  2. Green Bay Packers (13-3)*
  3. New Orleans Saints (13-3)

  6. Minnesota Vikings (10-6)

*First Round Bye
