We are just about halfway through the National Football League regular-season schedule, and this is about the time of year when the playoff race begins to heat up and we start seriously looking ahead at Super Bowl 2020 odds.
Recently, we’ve focused on the best teams with some of the lowest odds to reach the Super Bowl as the season has progressed. This time around, we are turning our attention toward quality teams that aren’t getting as much attention as those right at the top of the betting board.
When it comes to NFL betting lines, you could do much worse than William Hill, which has been earning its strong reputation elsewhere for about 85 years. In its first few months operating the Garden State, it has already established itself as a go-to platform for bettors.
Let’s play a little catch up on who the betting favorites are at the moment. Below are the three most likely to reach and win Super Bowl 54, according to lines from William Hill NJ:
Now, The goal is to look at a few teams that should definitely be competing in the postseason and could have a legitimate chance to knock off one of the larger favorites in its respective conference and make an appearance at Super Bowl 54.

Green Bay is not a dark horse franchise in any way and we’ve included them in our Super Bowl predictions before.
Still, they aren’t receiving the kind of attention that New Orleans is or San Francisco is starting to. Those two teams have combined for 13 wins in a row and the odds are currently stacked that to say one of them is likely to advance all the way to Miami.
Aaron Rodgers is flouring in a new offense and the Packers are 6-1 with an inside track on the NFC North, which would equal one or more playoff games at Lambeau Field in January. The +400 line is also much better than you’d see by the time the NFC title game came around.
This one is an actual long shot at +1200 to advance to Super Bowl 54, but if you’re willing to take a bigger risk with hopes of a larger payday, the Seahawks would be a pretty decent bet in an NFC that’s truly up for grabs.
Because of the 49ers’ hot start, Seattle looks headed for Wild Card weekend, which means playing in a hostile environment during each round of the postseason. While this isn’t the Seahawks team of old, it does possess a combination of qualities that could equal winning a road game in the playoffs that some other
Russell Wilson is a playoff veteran and a proven performer and when you’ve got a reliable quarterback, you’ve got a shot. What’s even more impressive about Seattle is Wilson throwing the ball is complimentary to the real anchor of the offense. The Seahawks run the ball effectively and control the clock as well as the elite teams in the NFL.

The Chiefs are the No. 2 team in the conference but can still be included here because frankly, anyone not named New England is getting very little attention in the AFC right now when it comes to Super Bowl betting.
The Chiefs have lost three of four games after a 4-0 start and are currently without All-Pro QB Patrick Mahomes, who is absolutely the key to Kansas City (and possibly anyone) dethroning New England. If Mahomes does indeed return to form, this team’s odds to win the AFC become very valuable if they at least reach the game since +600 is far better than they’d have at that time.
The fact that the Chiefs that they nearly defeated a really good Green Bay team its QB is a good sign, and playoff games at Arrowhead could certainly go a long way between getting back to the AFC championship game or not.
Because there’s no fun in handing the conference championship to New England halfway through the season, let’s talk about another longshot in the AFC North-leading Ravens, of the more exciting teams in the league to watch thanks to Lamar Jackson under center.
At 5-2, Baltimore has the keys to a division title and home playoff games in its future, so take a look this way for a large payout. We like this team for many of the same reasons as Seattle, except the Ravens do it better. This team ranks No. 1 in rushing yards per game and time of possession with a dual-threat quarterback. The defense is average but we can’t have everything.
Think of it this way: there is a way the Ravens could at least reach an AFC title game in New England. At that point, you’d be able to hedge a decent amount on the Patriots. knowing a +800 payday would be coming if the underdogs somehow pulled it out and made it to Super Bowl 54.
In the AFC, one team stands alone and that’s the undefeated New England Patriots. In the NFC where things are big tighter, it’s the surging New Orleans Saints and undefeated San Francisco 49ers are getting the majority of the attention and the lowest odds from bookmakers.
Metrics from Football Outsiders measures each team’s chances of reaching the postseason, appearing in the conference title game, winning the conference and winning the Super Bowl among other things. Some of that data is presented below:
With so many weeks to go in the season, much still needs to be played out and plenty of teams are still dreaming of a deep run that ends at the Super Bowl. Here are NFL betting lines for two honorable mentions that bettors may want to keep an eye on as things move forward in the playoff hunt:
