The Lions (3-7-1) initially were home favorites at most, if not all NJ betting sites before Week 12 was played. Following Detroit’s fourth consecutive loss and Chicago’s win, NFL betting lines have shifted and the Bears (5-6) are now slight 1.5-point favorites on the road with the total set low at 39 points at Fox Bet.

These two NFC North rivals are meeting for the second time in three weeks, this time with the Lions at home as Detroit plays host to a Thanksgiving football game, a tradition that began over 100 years ago. After the Bears won 20-13 on November 10, can the Lions return the favor and end the four-game losing streak?
Though the Bears aren’t going to the postseason, the remaining schedule is important for evaluating the roster including third-year QB Mitch Trubisky, who has struggled mightily at points.
The good news is, three of Trubisky’s 10 passing scores came against Detroit a couple of games ago as the QB posted a season-high 131.0 passer rating in the win. The Lions have a bottom-10 pass defense according to DVOA figures from Football Outsiders, which could give the Bears some more chances to have success through the air.
Whether or not that happens, though, might be dependent on the help Trubisky gets from the Bears’ nonexistent run game. The Detroit run defense has held up pretty well all things considered, so RB David Montgomery finding some room will be imperative to a Chicago victory.
As the Lions look to get back in the win column, they’ll once again be without QB Matthew Stafford (back), meaning Jeff Driskel will start for the fourth game in a row. Driskel has been serviceable for the most part, but a few costly turnovers resulted in a brutal three-point loss to the lowly Redskins last Sunday.
The Lions may have found something in running back Bo Scarbrough, who ran for 98 yards on just 18 attempts in Week 12. They’ll likely look to establish the run rather than try to throw all over a Bears pass defense that ranks sixth if you go by Football Outsiders’ efficiency metrics.

So let me ask, what changed in the last two weeks to turn the Bears from a touchdown favorite to a one-point favorite?
Even the customary three points for being the home team would still have Chicago three or four points better than Detroit. The Lions are currently a team in free-fall mode with seven losses in eight games and motivation to play 60 minutes dwindling every week.
With Stafford still out and Trubisky actually having some success against the Lions this year, there’s only one way too somewhat confidently go with this game. For the first of our Thanksgiving NFL picks, take the Bears on the road to hand the Lions a fifth-straight loss and get back to .500.
Since there are only three Thanksgiving NFL games as opposed to an entire slate of contests, the likelihood is higher that bettors are interested in one of the many NFL prop betting markets available for each game at NJ and PA betting apps.
For Bears vs. Lions, we are looking squarely at the Chicago team total and selecting over 19.5 points (-120) at Fox Bet PA for Thursday’s first game. The Bears managed 20 points the last time these two played despite going just 2-for-12 on third down and rushing for just 81 yards.
With a little bit of success on third down and running the ball combined with another solid performance from Trubisky, Chicago should reach at least 20 points in this game as they did a couple of weeks back.
Here is a great promotion you can get this week from DraftKings Sportsbook for those in NJ, PA, IN, and WV who are new player signups.
