The Green Bay Packers (5-2) are traveling to visit the San Francisco 49ers (4-4) at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California as the two open up the Week 9 schedule with an NFC battle on Thursday, November 5th at 8:20 PM EST.

According to FoxBet NFL lines, Green Bay is a slight road favorite at -3 (+100) with a moneyline at +150, while San Francisco is +3 (-118) with a moneyline at +125. The total is currently set at 51 points.
Last year, the Packers wnt 13-3 with one of those losses being an embarrassing prime time defeat at the hands of the Niners. It was more of the same in the NFC Championship game when San Francisco dominated Green Bay once again.
Then just last week, the Packers fell to division rival Minnesota at home despite being favorites by a touchdown. Now, they are a field-goal favorite on the road and we are expected to put money on them? Yes, exactly.
The Packers have a few issues, beginning with the fact that they can’t stop the run. Any team who commits to the ground game as the Vikings did will have a chance to move the ball and score points. Another issue is the injuries to running back Aaron Jones and kicker Mason Crosby, two important pieces to the offense for very different reasons.
Despite their flaws, Green Bay remains in first place and has the inside track to win the NFC North once again. They still have the deadly combination of Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams, which puts them in a position to outscore most opponents. The Packers are one of the rare NFL teams to rank in the top 10 in DVOA offense when it comes to both rushing and passing the football.
Meanwhile, The 49ers began the season as division favorites but currently sit in last place in the NFC West, partially due to its own terrible injury luck. The two biggest pieces to Kyle Shanahan’s offense are QB Jimmy Garoppolo and TE George Kittle, both of whom exited early in an awful Week 8 loss to Seattle after re-aggravating injuries.
This is in addition to defensive linemen Solomon Thomas and Nick Bosa going on the injured reserve early in the season, and a few other players banged up such as linebacker Kwon Alexander and safety Jaquiski Tartt. It’s hard to see how the Niners slow the Packers down without so many difference-makers on defense.
Suddenly, we can understand why oddsmakers made the road team the favorite in this spot. Some sites have this at -2.5, which would be an excellent number to grab, but we still like Green Bay at -3 (+100 on FoxBet) for our Packers vs. Niners picks.
Green Bay responded to its only loss with a dominant performance on the road the following week, and we could see a similar thing here against a 49ers team that is really a shell of what it was supposed to be. Take -2.5 if you can find it, but the -3 offers better value without too much of a sacrifice if you’re thinking Green Bay is the play here.
