Week 2 of Sunday Night Football features the New England Patriots visiting the Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Washington with kickoff set for 8:20 PM EST. The home team enters as 4-point favorites with the total set at 44.5 points, according to BetMGM.

While both the Patriots and the Seahawks won their first game of the 2020-2021 NFL season, Seattle’s 38-25 victory over the Falcons was much more impressive than New England’s 21-11 win over a turnover-happy Dolphins squad. The Pats did rattle Ryan Fitzpatrick while picking him off three times, but that only covers up the fact that New England’s defense has many holes that were opened up during the offseason.
Plus, the upgrade in difficulty from Fitzpatrick to Russell Wilson is immeasurable. Last week, Wilson torched the Falcons for 322 yards and four touchdowns and I fully expect him to pick apart this depleted corps of New England.
Cam Newton had a very strong debut with New England, looking healthy while running the football and throwing it efficiently. But there’s no doubt this Seattle defense will try to clog the middle of the field and actually force him to throw the ball to the outside, which could lead to some mistakes we didn’t see last week.
Seattle is built to be a Super Bowl contender this year, and they came out of the gates proving that as they put 38 on the board in Atlanta. Cam and the Patriots may end up with a winning record this year with the help of a weak AFC East, but they will need all the help they can get to stay within striking distance of the Seahawks in this matchup.
The Seahawks opened up at -4 (-110), and we see some sweet value in a number that may only get bigger as kickoff approaches.
The over/under on this Week 2 Sunday Night Football is set at 44.5 on BetMGM Sportsbook. I’m digging the over on this one for a few reasons:
I do feel like the Seahawks will easily cover the spread, but the Patriots will score a few touchdowns and help blast past that 44.5 mark. I’m taking the over for this SNF totals prediction.
