Monday Night Football heads to M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore for Week 3 as the Ravens play host to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, September 28 at 8:20 PM. The Ravens are currently 3.5-point favorites according to BetMGM NFL lines, with the total set pretty high at 53.5 points.

Two potent offenses clash in Baltimore on Monday night in what should be an epic early-season contest. The Ravens and Chiefs are both 2-0 but stayed undefeated through different means in Week 2. Baltimore dispatched the Texans by a 33-16 score while the Chiefs struggled to put touchdowns on the board against the Chargers in Week 2 and needed the sound boot of Harrison Butker to win it for them in overtime.

These two teams are known for their electric offenses thanks to the dual-threat talents of both franchise quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. Normally, we’d concentrate more on that side of the ball in this contest, but it feels like the defensive side of the ball will ultimately call it one way or the other.

This is where I find fault in the Chiefs right now and how timing is working out perfectly for the Ravens. It’s the first time this season that the Chiefs have opened as an underdog, with the Ravens listed as a -3.5 at multiple sportsbooks including BetMGM. I can see why that is after such a poor defensive showing by Kansas City, and once you consider the fact that Baltimore has won 14 regular-season games in a row.

The Ravens’ defense allowed the Texans to gain just 326 total yards, with only 51 of those on the ground, and only one passing touchdown from Deshaun Watson. Even though the Chiefs defense only allowed 20 points, it made the Chargers look better than it should have. If you’re letting a Justin Herbert throw for 311 yards in his NFL debut and giving up 183 rushing yards, it’s going to raise some concern heading into a Monday matchup with Baltimore.

This line may shift a little bit as the week progresses so if you think the public will be all over the Ravens, get that bet in now before the number gets larger. For our money, Baltimore’s home streak and its third-ranked DVOA defense from Football Outsiders make it the best Monday Night Football pick.

Chiefs vs. Ravens Over-Under Predictions | Week 3 MNF Picks

Through the first couple of weeks, high-powered offenses have taken advantage of the lack of preseason and running up the score. Will this contest feature another offensive explosion in prime time?

We’re currently looking at a total set at 53.5 for the over/under at BetMGM, and I feel like that’s too high. Both Ravens games have gone under their first two games and the Chiefs went under Week 2 as well. Even with two great offenses, I envision the best Chiefs vs. Ravens totals pick being the under for this game for a few reasons:

• The Ravens pressured Deshaun Watson and kept the Texans from establishing a running game

• The Chiefs’ offensive line struggled against the Chargers last week and Baltimore brings more defensive pressure than Los Angeles

• Kansas City’s running game struggled against a middle-of-the-pack defense last week and the Ravens will pose an even bigger challenge against rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire

Both these teams will score plenty, as many clubs have done this season in the early going. But covering 54 points with a defense as good as the Ravens involved is hard to imagine. This seems like more of a 27-20 score in Baltimore’s favor, so I’m choosing the under for one of my Chiefs vs. Ravens picks on Monday night.
