On Dec. 15, 2018, SugarHouse Casino Sportsbook in Philadelphia officially opened. After two days of successful testing, SugarHouse is the first to open a sportsbook in the city, which is at a temporary location near the Frankford Avenue entrance.
Cheryl Duhon, general manager of SugarHouse, expressed the casino’s excitement and believes there will be a big demand from Philadelphia sports fan to get in on the action.
SugarHouse NJ Brings Its Experience To PA Sports Betting
Although NJ sports betting has been running since June, SugarHouse has been involved in NJ online sports betting since mid-August when they launched their online sportsbook operation. Despite the SugarHouse Sportsbook coming late to the game, it more than doubled its revenue over the first two months. And as NJ closes in on $1 billion in bets, that number should only rise.
SugarHouse Sportsbook Gives Players Something To Smile About
SugarHouse Sportsbook does it right, with many available TVs for bettors to track the games and tableside ordering that is available through your mobile device. As for handling the crowd, SugarHouse has six betting windows and six kiosks, allowing players to bet on all major league and college sports, including parlays that allow up to 12 legs.
The SugarHouse Sportsbook will include straight bets, parlays, totals, and in-game betting. As of now, bets are cash only. The sportsbook is expected to expand as time goes on.
"Basketball, we'll have football, hockey, and baseball, and we're looking at what other sports we could add, looking at the demographics of Philadelphia and what they want," said Cheryl Duhon.
The SugarHouse Sportsbook is open until midnight from Sunday to Thursday and until 2am for Fridays and Saturdays. Players are allowed to cash in there tickets at any cashier cage, which is open 24 hours a day.
SugarHouse PA Online Sports Betting Is Near
PA online sports betting is expected to go live early in 2019, and SugarHouse is prepared, as they already have a very successful SugarHouse NJ app; an online platform to place bets in New Jersey, and that technology should be used in Pennsylvania.
As a sister casino to SugarHouse, we can expect a Rivers Casino app to allow their players to place bets online as well.
