The first-place Cowboys (6-5) may be coming off a loss, but managed to still open as favorites by a touchdown over the Bills (8-3) at most PA betting apps with the total set at 44.5 points.
Early in the week, the spread has shifted slightly to Dallas -6.5 (-118) at Fox Bet PA. With both teams strong against the spread and jockeying for playoff position in the season’s final few weeks, which one covers on Thanksgiving day?

Dallas is now in the NFC East driver’s seat, even if we’re all still unsure of exactly how good this team is. Despite a decent 7-4 ATS record, the Cowboys are one game over .500 after losing two of its last three.
Going into last game the Cowboys had the top-ranked offense in the entire league according to DVOA stats from Football Outsiders. It all starts with the running game and Ezekiel Elliott following one of the league’s best offensive lines to set the tone. The surprise strength of this offense, however, is Dak Prescott’s career season under center.
it’s been a career season for Prescott. He put together a three-game streak with three passing touchdowns before Week 12 and still leads all NFL quarterbacks in passing yards (2,433) to this point. It’s worth noting that the Bills are a top ten passing defense according to DVOA metrics and have allowed the third-fewest yards this season, so that rushing attack is likely to prove vital.
Not only does Buffalo have eight wins and is two games clear of the first AFC Wild Card position, but it’s also an impressive 7-3-1 against the spread this season and has won four of five games on the road.
Buffalo may not be as high-powered as Dallas, but its last few contests do show this can be a multi-dimensional offense at times. Led by RB Devin Singletary the Bills rushed for 244 yards in Week 12 after totaling 168 yards on the ground in Week 11.
Couple that with QB Josh Allen throwing eight touchdowns to one interception of the past five games, and you can tell a bit about why this team is probably going to the playoffs. Against Dallas’ middle-of-the-road defense, the Bills could have their way a little bit moving the ball.

This is a classic case of one team being a little better than its record and one team being slightly worse. Dallas is the superior team even if the records say Buffalo has more wins and we expect Dallas’ offense to be a bit too much for the Bills to match for 60 minutes.
With that said, this number is too big. Buffalo is not a team that gets blown out and Dallas is not a team that blows out teams, especially ones that are above average. If the Bills can continue running the ball with ease on a so-so defense, they should be able to control the clock enough to keep this one close.
We should remember that earned or not, there’s an aura around the Cowboys playing Thanksgiving football at home and they’re always a popular NFL betting pick on Turkey Day. Oddsmakers know it and oftentimes overvalue Dallas in this spot, leading to the team covering just once since 2011. Give us the underdog for the second of our Thanksgiving NFL picks.
On top of being one of the fastest-growing operators in Pennsylvania, Fox Bet also finds itself near the top of the list for the most popular NJ betting sites around. When it comes to wagering beyond conventional spreads and totals, FoxBet NJ has a wide range of NFL prop betting markets to choose from.
For this Thanksgiving Day matchup, we are jumping all over the Bills’ team total of 18.5 points, which to us feels a bit too low. Buffalo is not a team that puts up an incredible amount of points, but it’s not as if Dallas is a world-beater on defense and keeping teams off the board this season.
This will come down to whether Dallas can force the Bills to kick field goals rather than score touchdowns, and a mix of both can still wind up with Buffalo scoring around 20 points in a game that likely totals between 40 and 50 points in total.
