It has been more than half a year since Rivers Sportsbook opened its doors in Pennsylvania, and if the first six months in business are any indication, it’s only just getting started as the leading operator in the Keystone State.
From its first month accepting wagers during December 2018, Rivers Sportsbook led its peers (SugarHouse PA Sportsbook and Hollywood Sportsbook) in PA sports betting handle and revenue. Fast forward to the most recent revenue report from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, and the pecking order still hasn’t changed. Rivers and SugarHouse have combined to dominate the sports betting landscape over the past few months, but Rivers Sportsbook is beginning to separate itself more than ever. With yet another strong month of May, Rivers is reaching new heights and very high numbers.
Massive May Puts Rivers Casino Sportsbook Over $50M In PA Sports Betting Handle
For the fourth consecutive month, Rivers Sportsbook has the honor of leading all PA sports betting venues in handle and revenue. It also now holds the distinction of being the only PA casino to do two very important things. The May revenue report

To this point, 2019 has been a total boom for Rivers Casino Sportsbook. March marked the highest-earning month in handle for any operator at nearly $12 million before April was a down month for the industry as a whole, but not so much for Rivers. April numbers actually eclipse the May numbers, but May did allow Rivers the chance to reach these milestones that no PA sportsbook has been able to up until this point.
Once again, the May revenue numbers were good enough to top SugarHouse Sportsbook, which recently became the first Pennsylvania online casino to launch an online sports betting platform and has that revenue added to its total. The good news for SugarHouse is that it too will bear the Rivers Sportsbook name at its location in Philadelphia as part of a wider rebranding effort. Soon enough, the BetRivers Sportsbook name will ring through the entire state.
BetRivers App Expected To Launch Soon
As the only land-based sports betting location in the western half of the Keystone State, Rivers Casino Sportsbook has enjoyed popularity and visitors from a wide range of geographic locations, no doubt boosting its overall production. It will look to expand that brand into the PA online sports betting realm with the BetRivers Sportsbook app and should be able to build on its well-earned reputation and huge revenue numbers.
