This past week was highlighted by Rhode Island sports betting. The official debut of Rhode Island sports betting began on Nov. 26 in the town of Lincoln at Twin River Casino. The Rhode Island sportsbook does not yet have online sports betting, nor a mobile platform, but that option will be considered in the near future.
The Rhode Island Lottery will oversee of the the process and IGT will partner with the Lottery and casinos to help operate the sports betting.
The sports betting tax revenue breakdown:
Rhode Island sportsbooks are here and now the possibility of making Virginia sports betting legal in 2019 is gaining momentum. House Bill 1638 has been pre-filed, as it looks to repeal Virginia's prohibition of sports betting and online sportsbooks.
Considering Virginia does not have any land-based casinos, the state will look to operate strictly through online sports betting on mobile apps. The house bill shows that the state is looking more to operate under the Virginia Lottery, using websites, apps or other online platforms to control their sports betting initiative.
DraftKings Sportsbook reached out to BonusSeeker to provide us with which NFL teams are taking the most bets by their players. Week 12 saw many disappointed by the Lions, but thrilled by the Cowboys (not to mention this past Thursday!), while the Patriots have taken the most bets and handle for the 2018 season. Based on their handle and actual records, it does appear there as some value to be had with the Dolphins and Bills this season.
DraftKings also provided some us information on some big-time winners.
Android users are about to get excited after seeing all the app enhancements coming their way from some of the most trusted and well-run sports betting sites in the US. DraftKings Sportsbook Pools app allows even the most casual of players to get in on the fun, while FanDuel Sportsbook partnership with the NHL will allow the company to offer game data in real-time and exclusive prizes.
Other sports betting apps, such as those from 888sport, Betfair and Bet365 have all made their mark as well. Betfair allows US players to place legal sports bets with the same odds as those in Vegas, while Bet365 sports betting app allows for live streaming of many sports. Being allowed to watch the game you bet on from anywhere in the world, at any time, is the kind of innovation everyone can get behind.
This was just some of the week that was in sports betting and online gaming.
